Weeks of anticipation led to Alex and Taylor’s beautiful engagement session on Skyline Drive. It was a PERFECT fall day, and after weeks of stalking the weather (Taylor admitted), we were relieved to make this shoot happen! 🙂 There’s a lot of prep that goes into a shoot, so we want it to work out as seamless as possible. 🙂 Knowing that photographing on top of a mountain can be cold, especially during the fall season, I came prepared and wore a vest and scarf. However, after all of the running around, it got hot FAST! Although, I’ll blame it on the workout hiking around. 😉 Little did they know we had to walk up and down little hiking trails, but they were troopers!!! Taylor joked around saying that she can be very clumsy walking around and I immediately thought how we are on the edge of a mountain… You can only understand how I quickly became cautious! 😉 Lol! Honestly, they were great and so well coordinated! Thank goodness. 😉
Their sense of style was so detailed — Love it! I couldn’t help but admire Taylor’s choice of nail polish to her Kendra Scott jewelry to the pastel, long flowy gown! 🙂 One point of the shoot, I had them climb up and sit on a rock, unknowing Alex had on fun American flag socks! All of the sudden … BAM! I loved that fun pop! I’m glad they had a great time dressing up for this session!! Despite the fact that Taylor had to return ten different dresses. Lol! She looked flawless, so the exchanges were worth it!!
We had the most apparent sunset without a cloud in the sky! It was so magical because we had the ultimate golden glowiness!!! 🙂 This shoot made my photographer heart SO happy!!! <3 Of course, what made my heart really happy was photographing Alex and Taylor!! These two are so much fun together!! They know exactly what to say to get the other one smiling and laughing! So cute!! I just adore that they are full of LIFE!!! You’ll definitely see that below. 🙂

How Alex and Taylor Met
from Taylor’s perspective
We actually met on Tinder if you can believe that! I had just moved to Charlottesville recently and wasn’t really looking to get into a relationship just yet, I more or less wanted some free food J (I’m terrible, I know). Once we matched on Tinder, I made the first move and messaged him first! He had the sweetest profile picture with his grandparents that just melted my heart. We had our first date not long after meeting on Tinder; he actually missed the beginning of his family vacation to go on our first date! We casually dated for a while before one night right before the holidays Alex told me how he felt about me. It was the sweetest thing I had ever heard and I knew at that point this was going to be the man who I was going to spend the rest of my life with. Right after the holidays, he asked me to be his girlfriend and I, of course, said yes! I absolutely love how he can always make me laugh and there is never a dull moment between the two of us. I’m so lucky to have met an amazing man who always puts me first and loves me unconditionally. I cannot wait to marry him!
How Alex Proposed to Taylor
from Alex’s perspective
In the days leading up to proposing, I knew I had to come up with a plan on how to get Taylor to the winery without her being suspicious. I ask her good friend, Lauren, to tell her she wants to celebrate her graduation by going to some wineries and breweries. Everything is going great until Taylor tells me she’s planning on having a yard sale the morning of the proposal and refuses to change it to another date. I get up early to help her and am already feeling the nerves set in. After what feels like the longest morning, we are on the way to King Family Vineyards. Everyone in the car is in on the plan except Taylor. When we get there I look for a secluded place for some privacy, thankfully Taylor suggests we go and check out the horse stables and “take pics for Insta”. I’m shaking like a leaf as Taylor is still completely unaware. Our friend, Adam, pulls out his phone to film but claims he’s taking a picture and then Lauren pulls out a nice camera to snap pictures. Taylor is so distracted by all this I can barely get her attention to turn around. Once she turns around, I hand her a monogrammed Yeti tumbler with her soon to be married initials. The hysterical tears follow quickly and I can barely even get the words “will you marry me” out. She says yes through all the crying and I can barely get the ring on her finger from all the nerves. We pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate and enjoy the rest of a beautiful day with amazing friends. She was truly shocked and I couldn’t have asked for it to go any better. I am so excited for all the future endeavors with my beautiful bride-to-be.
