Celebrating Fall Time!

Words cannot express how WONDERFUL it was to be able to take this past weekend off to celebrate fall as well as the time with Kyle. 🙂 I really needed this time before my calendar picks up starting with a 2 weddings and an engagement session this coming up weekend! This weekend started out by getting off of my business hours and heading out to an orchard with Kyle to only find out that they were closing in ten minutes … well, so we made the trip worth while by buying apple butter! Umm, not sure how you think about a 45 minute drive for just apple butter, but I would definitely say it was well worth it! Lol! So we ended up going home to have a home made meal and a nice night with a movie. 🙂

Saturday was a late start … but I think we can deserve a little sleep in once in a while! 🙂 Around noon we headed out to Monticello to learn about Thomas Jefferson and his home. Super admirable and intelligent man! I have taken many tours in my past and I must say that this one was one of my most favorite tours! Maybe because it is not terribly overwhelming? I can now see why Kyle looks up to him as his favorite president! But you know of course, I have to differ and say that James Madison was my favorite … duh being a JMU Alum. 😉

Sunday we really celebrated the fall time by being outdoors 80% of the day! LOVED it and could not have been any more perfect because it was sunny with a temperature of about 75 degrees. 🙂 So we started the day by packing up a lunch and headed up north for a hike at Bull Run Mountain! Only thing I was not quite expecting were all of the stink bugs!!! Holy cows guys, seriously … I hope these monsters are not going to be as bad this season as what I just saw because Kyle thought I was going to jump off the cliff seeing how much freaking out I was doing on the cliff of this view! Lol! I knew what I was doing of course! 😉

After a fabulous hike! We went off to a local farm to pick some apples at Hollin Farms. The view is unbelievable up there … but unfortunately, it seemed like we were late getting there as it was hard finding great apples for our apple pie. With patience, we were able to fill up our bag … along with some goofing off … I mean, you have to have fun when things aren’t going as planned, right? 🙂 After leaving with a full bag of apples, a dirty car from the travel up there … and stink bugs holding on for dear life on my car?! No joke, by the time we walked to my car, it was COVERED in like 826 stink bugs! Yes, I counted! 😉 They just know that I don’t like them…

After everything was all settled and done with the trip, we celebrated the victory of the REDSKINS (WOHOO!) … can I say, about TIME?! 🙂 … we went home and put together a homemade apple pie. And I can say not bad for our first time making it. 🙂
