Weekend Catch Up

I sit here this morning soaking in the AMAZING weekend of weddings and an engagement session … seriously, could not have been more ideal … but I also sit here shocked. I am thankful that God has led me to where I am today but it seems like he might be giving me another HUGE push! I made the leap into my business by leaving a full time position at my graphic design job and decided to work there just Tues/Thurs so I had Mon/Wed/Fri to catch up with my business work or sessions. I have seen a DRASTIC difference of time and how much it has helped me! God was watching over me as I knew that I was ready to make a change in my business by putting more time into it … but at the same time, with the reassurance of a Tues/Thurs job I felt comfortable with my bills and lifestyle. I FINALLY got into the groove of everything a little over a month ago. I knew that Mon/Wed/Fri were for editing, emailing, packaging, meetings and random sessions … Tues/Thurs were for my graphic design job and then family time as Kyle and I would make the weekly effort to visit my family on Tuesday evenings and his family on Thursday evenings. Family means so much to us and keeping this routine is important. Obviously, Saturdays and Sundays are for weddings and sessions. Basically, there is no time to relax and be bored. But I would not want it that way. I love productivity and running around … breaks are of course a necessity when it can come.

This morning, I have received the news that I am laid off from my graphic design job. I have always heard about the economy being at its worst and have not really seen a drastic change until recently. A gorgeous nearby venue has just announced that they will be closing down due to its money situation and now my own job seeing how money has affected the business! It saddens me that I am not the only person who has to experience what it feels like to be laid off… Positive side? My job is hoping for rehire in early spring if things turn around as expected. We will see where the future carries me. šŸ™‚

Even though I am shocked this morning, I also feel calm. I think this is God telling me I need to push myself harder in my business and fully rely on Him. I made the big leap of trust when I pulled back to a part time position at my work in June … and now that I do not have that regular paycheck every two weeks, I need Him in my life to guide and reassure that everything will work out. I guess I am more nervous for the January/February timing as my slow season approaches. What I can say is that I am SO thankful for God who has given my all of the signs to move forward … my family and Kyle who are always by my side when I need them most … my supporters who have given me SO much encouragement of the course of my business life … and of course my clients! If it were not for my clients, I would not be here looking at this new opportunity in front of me. An opportunity to push my business to new levels! I was overwhelmed to think that I booked 33 weddings this year after only being in business since June of 2012 … and now I can look forward to having as of now, 20 weddings booked for 2014! I cannot explain HOW THANKFUL I am for each and every one of these clients who have put their trust and investment into my business. As of this morning, I have been given a new PUSH and will make sure to go over and beyond my expectations for my clients. šŸ™‚

THANK YOU everyone for your encouragement! I am walking down the path that God has made for me to take … maybe I’m taking it later than he wanted me to, but I’m going into my business full throttle!

This week, I have SO many pretty photos for you as well as the love stories of two wonderful weddings that went on this weekend! šŸ™‚ Cannot wait to share more with you starting tomorrow!
