Weekend Recap

Over the weekend, I volunteered to run out with Kyle to take care of the snow storm in the Leesburg area in the middle of the night for his work. Really, not ideal to stay up until 6 a.m. to watch your boyfriend shovel snow with the drifts pounding him and his team. I know it was his task to do it, but I could not wait for him to get out of that cold icky weather! During that time I was in the car, I decided to make use of it by making lists … ohhh many and many lists! Blog ideas for this year, new pricing, slightly different packaging design, new strategies for 2014, equipment/materials I need to purchase, new editing workflow, winter to do list …  This is exactly how I wanted to start off the 2014 year! For me, lists are exciting because it sets new goals to complete overtime. I need them in my life in order to feel some sort of accomplishment, which is why I have weekly “to do” lists. It’s not just about the accomplishments but to also make sure I’m timely with my business work. 🙂

I was able to put my first note in the memory jar this weekend as I received news that Randi’s family session has a partial feature in a print magazine coming out this spring!!! Eeep! 🙂 I’m excited (more info to come once it is out!)! One of my goals this year is to have more of my work featured, so I will be working on that this winter. Another goal of mine was to clean and organize my office space inside and out … including tearing down the Christmas decorations (sad day). I was also able to mostly accomplish that one over the weekend. One thing that will finalize the straightening up will be to conquer and reorganize the binders and folders stuffed with paperwork. I went through it all and decided how I want to break it down into binders so everything is organized … and that is what I’ll be working on in the next couple days! Once that’s done, I’ll be able to throw another accomplishment into the memory jar!

This week, I’m starting a series to really cap off the 2013 year by sharing the “Best of”! Tune in starting tomorrow morning where I start off with the Best of 2013 Family Moments! 🙂 It will make you smile!

For today and this week, I have a full list of “to dos”! Even though I am only booked for one session this weekend, there is a lot I need to accomplish beforehand. Camera equipment cleaned and tuned for the season, finish the binder organization in my office, get through weekend emails, reset my pricing, finalize new editing workflow, brainstorm new ideas for working my sessions, blogging of course, finalize paperwork for 2013 taxes (blah!) and create final list of things to purchase to ensure I have the supplies to last me through the year. Whew! Time. Starts. NOW.
