Last night, I was sitting with one of my brides reviewing over last details for her wedding next month and we started chatting about our pets. I mentioned that Pixie’s birthday is tomorrow … after the second I said that I wondered to myself, is that strange that I know this and mentioned it in a casual conversation?! Lol!
Pixie is like my business mascot. When I have couples come to my office, Pixie greets them or they (really the bride) will ask where she is. Haha! I love that she loves my clients as much as I do! She will walk in and say “hi” to everyone … including that time I had a packed house of photographers and she came in to greet every girl in my living room. I’m blessed that she isn’t a terror because it is typical for kittens who didn’t grow up with their cat mom to be horribly mannered. I’m definitely blessed!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PIXIE! Lol! I laugh at myself that I did this… But hey, she enjoyed celebrating her b-day this morning!
For those who do not know the background story of Pixie, here is a brief version: My sister, Amanda, was working at a high end restaurant in the middle of farm country. It wasn’t abnormal to see a few cats running around the outside of the restaurant since there is a farm right outside. Her coworker ran in saying that there was a kitten with its eyes shut squealing all by itself outside of the restaurant under a tree. Immediately, my sister calls up my mom and I to come pick it up. Since we also live on a farm, we have had people just drop off kittens in a bag on our driveway … very sad … so of course we are cat lovers and want to take care of this poor alone kitten. My mom and I picked it up and had NO idea how to take care of a 4 day old kitten. So we started researching and ran out to a local pet store to pick up milk, a bottle and other little supplies. I remember that first night, I held pixie who fit in the palm of my hand and snuggled with her to keep her warm. Soooo precious! And that is where she stole my heart! I decided to take her and call her my own. Now she celebrates two years today! Crazy how time flies by! So I want to share some photos of her growth over these past two years with you. 🙂
She was four days old here and could fit into a palm of a hand!
She started learning how to drink milk out of a bowl by herself … believe me, that was a HUGE accomplishment at that time!
Three/four months old! Lol!
Sorry this photo is so small — I wanted to share that this toy is a cow and today, it is STILL her favorite toy as she carries around the house. Mostly at night, she will carry it and meow looking for someone to play with. SO cute!
Between four to seven months? I don’t really remember!
Super precious! Today, this is still her favorite blanket to snuggle.
Seven months old! Getting bigger!
Photo taken close to her one year birthday! She grew up SO fast!
Oh yes, and miss grumpy cat for 2013 Christmas! Lol!
And TODAY! Two years old!
Thanks to my sister who brought Pixie into our home that very first night two years ago! So many wonderful memories with this little fur baby!
