I’ll admit I feel like I got a GOOD workout this weekend … and it wasn’t from the gym! From a farm wedding at Hermitage Hill Farms to a DC engagement session on top of running around, my legs are so sore! Maybe I became weaker over the winter time?! Maybe I need to be more active at the gym now to really strengthen for this season? Probably both and I guess it doesn’t help that I skipped the gym this morning because of my “exhausted mode”. 😉
I want to give the BIGGEST shout out to my momma!!!! Today is her BIRTHDAY! I’m meeting up with her later this morning for a girls afternoon of nails and lunch. Cannot wait!!! Tomorrow, I’m creating a lovely dinner birthday meal for her and the family at my place! It’s going to be amazinggggggg! Happy Birthday mom! 🙂
It looks like this week is going to be a WET one for sure … so this might be a great time for photographers to get together for a movie night and editing! Not sure if anyone is down for this … but I’m possibly thinking Wednesday night?! If you are interested in joining, let me know! We may have to throw on a chick flick comedy and some popcorn!
It’s only now just hitting me how things really do happen for a reason. Back in October, when I went full time in my business, I was SO scared. I wasn’t ever in doubt about it, I was just nervous financially not having a consistent paycheck coming in … ESPECIALLY going into the “slow season” of winter. God provides though!!! He knew I could not keep on living the life I was last year. Working a full time job on TOP of working a full time business … it wasn’t fair to ANYONE. My boss. My clients. My family and friends. My love. No one. I am SO much happier now that I can commit myself 100% into my business so I can be timely and stay on track! With this, I’m able to make time for others and actually DO stuff … like hiking, a movie night with Kyle (whenever I can get him out of the house), or shopping! Instead of staying up until 4 a.m. and getting up at 7:30 a.m., I’m able to get a full 8 hours of sleep now. What a difference that makes! I’m pretty sure I was shortening my lifespan all last year. So far this season, I have hit my weekly goals EVERY week with my one week turn arounds for weddings and portraits. It’s REALLY crucial that I do this way because with a wedding practically every weekend, there is NO room for “getting behind”. It’s all about getting into the mindset to push and exceed expectations … more importantly, knowing your balance! If it wasn’t for last year, I wouldn’t realize there were things to improve and figure out. Figuring out a balance in life is HARD and I still struggle with it, but it is looking bright in the near future! Keeping my Sundays cleared and only taking in 2 (3 tops) sessions a week has made a huge difference to my work schedule and COMMITMENT to my couples/clients. I want them to deserve the love and attention they deserve. Cheers for 2014 and for always trusting Gods ways! 🙂 Looking forward to 2015 for even more improvements!
Here’s a preview of what is to come on the blog this week!!!
Jennifer from MayJune Events | Head shots + Family Portraits
Brian & Tara | Hermitage Hill Farm Wedding
Jim & Emily | DC Engagement
… I’ll admit that I “broke my no Sunday sessions rule” but this was an excuse because I caught the Norovirus back in March when this was originally scheduled … then the second rescheduling, there was a horrible tragedy they went through, so I’m glad that the third time is a charm and we were able to make this happen. <3
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend with this GORGEOUS spring weather!!! I can get use to this. 🙂
