Front Porch Decorating

Before I get into this post, I only just realized today that TODAY is the deadline for your votes! The Warrenton Lifestyle is taking in votes for the “Best of Warrenton” and I know myself and other small businesses would LOVE your support! It’s super easy and fast! Don’t feel like you have to answer every single one of the votes … only the ones you want to vote for. 🙂

Please vote and help support the businesses in the Warrenton area! Thanks so much!!! xoxo

I cannot believe I’ve been living here for now over a year! Feels like only 5 months ago I moved here. It’s a great feeling to be settled in a spot. This time last year I was going crazy with my list of “to dos”. I wanted my home to feel like a home … of course that cannot come with a snap of a finger … so I was decorating, what it felt like every day. This year, I haven’t really done much around the house because it’s comfortable for the meantime. However, when the weather FINALLY decided to turn into spring/summer, I could not help but feel like I needed to do something more with the front area of the house because I wanted to be outside all of the time! Why not take my emailing/blogging outside and enjoy the day while eating lunch on the front porch? One of my favorite things to do each day that I look forward to after the gym! 🙂

The front porch area needed a little sprucing up to say the least. When Kyle and I first moved everything in, there were absolutely NO plants planted in the front. Landscaping is so important to Kyle because that is his career. I knew this had to change and I’m glad he was motivated to do it! After having plants in place and finally having a seat to sit in, I finally feel like this is a hang out spot! Not only for Kyle and I, but for friends as well!

I do wish I took a before photo, but if you can just imagine what this looked like before any plants were planted! There were NO plants … and obviously, it makes a difference to the appearance of the house. It definitely needed a little something. Having a professional landscape architect as a boyfriend definitely helps. 😉 By the way, if you ever need any landscape drawings, sketches, installation, ideas … Kyle is AMAZING!!! Be sure to like his page and connect with him if you need any landscaping done!

Anyways, here are some photos of what we have done for the front porch! Of course there are other things I want to do, but I’m going to wait until I have a house I officially own and not rent to make the grand plans work out. 🙂 Oh and P.S. don’t judge the watering skills I lack!

Pallet seating! I found small pallets I was able to stack to make wrap around seating and a little coffee table! Just painted the top layer of the wood white to make it a little more polished. Free seating? I’ll take it!
front_porch_decorating-6_webPixie LOVES coming outside! Even if she has to be on a leash. 😉
front_porch_decorating-9_webEventually, I’ll make pillows but I’m not in a rush at the moment. It might be a winter project coming up!!! 🙂
front_porch_decorating-7_webWho says you cannot have potted table plants? Adds a little bit of life inside the porch!
front_porch_decorating-12_webWhere I love to sit everyday and do my blogging/emails! 🙂
front_porch_decorating-8_webfront_porch_decorating-10_webBefore the planting, seating, hanging pots came in … this was the first thing I did to the porch! My sister and I hung these lights with command strip hooks! It worked out great!!! And I love the little bit of personality it adds to a bland front porch!
front_porch_decorating-5_webfront_porch_decorating-14_webThe plants are still filling in and growing (we lost some of the plants from last year from the harsh winter) … and we still need to mulch ( 😉 ) … but it came a LONG way from when I first saw this house with absolutely zero plants!

Cannot wait to have a permanent place in the near future to really play with! 🙂
