This was my first time at the Graves Mountain Lodge, but I was supposed to go earlier this fall for their famous Apple Festival! So glad I was able to check out this space first hand with these two lovebirds by touring around the entire property! The drive down there was breathtaking! I enjoyed every bit of my travel, however, there is a little tricky part involved. Once you’re ready to come home, there is zero cell service to connect to any map app on your phone! I had a moment of panic and fortunately, I was able to follow these two out to Route 29! Life savers! After I got home safe and sound, my boyfriend reminded me that all of this time I had OnStar hooked up in my car. Dang! I pay a service fee every month and totally forgot I even had it for emergencies like that! Next time I’ll get my money’s worth! 😉
Would you believe it if I said these two have known each other since 3rd grade?!?! I would say they must know each other pretty well by now. 😉 Bobby and Casey are meant for one another! They laughed and smiled the entire time holding on to each other’s hands. It was truly sweet! Setting these two up for each pose came easy as their personalities shined through and allowed their genuine selves to happen. I have known Casey … gosh, I think since middle school (?) … as we both rode the same bus together. Brings back so many memories! Now they are planning for their wedding in spring of 2016 with plenty of time to plan and relax!
How Bobby & Casey Met
from Casey’s perspective
We first met at Grace Miller Elementary School in 3rd grade. Little did we know 15 years later we would be getting married!
Going through school we remained friends. From high school football games, late night bowling and birthday celebrations we remained friends. After high school we parted ways of the hollowed walls of high school and our friendship. Bobby went to Pennsylvania for diesel schooland I went to Virginia Tech for Conservation Management. When we both returned home from school we were reunited; a little older and wiser. After being home for two years we realized there was something more to our friendship.
As our friendship became a relationship, it was clear to see we were meant to be together. Fourteen months later, on a rainy day in August under a beautiful waterfall on Skyline drive, Bobby asked me to be his wife.
Bobby & Casey’s Proposal Story
from Bobby’s perspective
I took off work one Friday so I could go scope out skyline drive. I found the perfect spot to watch the sun set, where I thought I was going to ask her. I then went back to her house to surprise her. I told her I took off work to spend a Friday evening with her. The next day had miserable weather. It was raining and the sun was nowhere to be found but, I was bound and determined to ask her. She didn’t want to go but I convinced her to go for a hike at a waterfall on skyline drive. When we arrived it was of course raining and everyone was leaving the trail. I told her I wanted to go. We went down the trail to the waterfall. When we arrived at the fall I told her I wanted to climb to the top, keep in mind we are both in crocs and it is still raining. When we reached the top I went around the corner and moved the ring to my close pocket. I told her I wanted to get a picture of us in the middle of the waterfall. I led her to the middle of the fall on a rock and turned to her. I asked her 3 questions before getting on one knee. Baby are you happy, do you love me and will you spend the rest of your life with me. After she answered the first question before she had a chance to answer I got on one knee almost slipping off the rock and asked her to marry me. She saw me slip and I have never seen her move so fast like she did to grab the ring. Thankfully me and the ring survived the waterfall and she said yes.
Thank you Bobby and Casey for taking the time to make this happen through the rain and clouds. 🙂 It was an awesome time running around Graves Mountain Lodge with you two! Enjoy some of my favorites!!! xoxo
