DIY Tulle Skirt

We are officially in the final countdown for Christmas! Exactly a week away! AH! 🙂 With Christmas parties and festive events happening I wanted to put together something cute after being inspired by a Christmas posting I wrote earlier this month. After looking up how much a tulle skirt was (easily over $100), I thought it wasn’t necessary to purchase one. Why not sew together a tulle skirt?! I went out to JoAnne Fabrics and purchased $38 worth of supplies (sparkly red tulle, lining and elastic). That beats $100 already! I will admit that assembling/sewing did take awhile, but any sewing project can be like that. 😉 One thing that made this project tricky was how slippery tulle can be when you are piling one layer on top of another. In the end, it worked out just fine and saved me some money from purchasing one. Now I have a festive skirt that I can swap out with different tops to make it a completely new look for the Holidays! Although, I already have another sewing project I’m going to work on for New Years Eve this coming up week. 🙂 I’m excited to see how that one turns out!!!

Want to take on the project yourself? Here is the tutorial of how to put yours together through Cotton + Curls!

Here’s how my skirt turned out! Wore it last night to a Christmas party! 🙂
