I knew if Chris and Beka’s initial consultation was any indication of our time together, we were going to have fun! They told me about how Chris proposed and I thought it was one of the most original stories I have ever heard! Not to mention, hilarious! Really, you have to take a moment and read all about it. So worthwhile. 🙂
I would use these three words to describe this couple: joyful, compassionate and relaxed. As soon as I left the gorgeous Sky Meadows Park, I wanted to run home to Kyle and snuggle in his arms. 🙂 They had that kind of a session … so loving and sweet!! Can only imagine what their wedding will be like. Actually, fun fact! Instead of a cake, they are thinking of something else fun and sweet. I’ll save it as a surprise when I can post up photos of their wedding day at the gorgeous Sunset Crest Manor this fall!! Cannot wait!
Chris & Beka Love Story
Introduction: We met when our mutual friend, Meg, set up a bowling outing. While bowling, Chris found himself going out of his way to try and start a conversation with Beka, and getting nothing in return, but he kept coming back for more. It wasn’t until later that night, when by logistics we ended up in a car together with just to two of us, that we actually began talking. It felt easy, natural, and fun to Chris, but as a serious introvert, Beka was just trying to make it through the car ride without seeming rude. At the end of the night, Chris made a comment to Meg before leaving, “You’re friend is cute.” And from there, as Meg likes to say, she made it happen.
The Proposal: Chris had planned on having this great evening in the woods in a private cabin; roaring fire, good wine, good food, a hike in the morning. He had planned on having Beka discover the ring with dessert, so he hid the box on top of the pie in a separate bag. As any man that has ever tried to pull a surprise off, it went sideways pretty quickly. First, it snowed, on November 1st, so hiking was out. Then the chimney in the cabin was mostly clogged, and we set off the smoke alarms. At one point Beka said “This will be a great story someday,” and for a moment I thought she knew what was happening. So, the time comes and I ask her to get the pie and about 10 minutes later she feigns annoyance and gets it. Does she do as Chris planned and opens the bag while he is on his knee? Nope, just tosses it on the bed. Plan A: failed. As Chris is stalling, figuring out what to do Beka is sticking a spoon on her nose. Then he realized that it doesn’t matter if this is perfect or not, because we are going to remember this, and this goofy, wonderful woman is perfect for me. So, he casually hands her the box and says “hold this for me” and go back to getting the pie out. He looks back up, spoon still on the end of Beka’s nose, her expression smiling, but yet confused. “You are very difficult to surprise” is all Chris can say, and you can see in her face it finally hits her what is going on. The rest of it is a blur, but in the end, we are both pretty certain she said yes.
Thank you Chris and Beka for a fun and joyful engagement session!!!! You both look SO happy and I cannot wait to see how even more happy you both will be this fall! xoxo!
