Happy first day of fall!!! It’s about that time of the year where family portraits pick up again! It seems like fall is the busiest time for family portraits with the Holiday season just around the corner. I am always incredibly honored when I have loyal clients return for my services. 🙂 I photographed the Ramsey family last year and I’m so glad that they want to cherish these current moments because time seems to be flying by faster than ever!
Last week, we had set up a date to meet and photograph in downtown Alexandria. The weather was great … I was on the road with plenty of time in case of traffic … untilllllll I came to a complete halt on 66. Before my eyes, 66 was SHUT DOWN. All four lanes. Immediately I contacted Beth and just wanted to give her an update of what was happening on my end and hope for the lanes to open up very soon. At this point, I had no clue what was going on. After 15 minutes of still no movement, Beth was willing without any hesitation to switch the location to make it work for all of us. So thankful for her flexibility unknowing how long I was going to be held up in Fairfax although I was still willing to make our original destination work. But with two young kids, it’s better to get started sooner rather than later. After sitting on 66 for over 30 minutes waiting to make progress, the traffic finally started to move! It was a blessing that we didn’t go to downtown Alexandria because who knew if there were more obstacles ahead. Unfortunately, I was able to see the accident that caused 66 to be shut down and it didn’t look good at all. I couldn’t even recognize the destroyed car in the middle of the road as it seemed like it was thrown around like a pinball machine. 🙁 Interstates or basically any road is dangerous … It reminded me why I was hesitant to get my license when I was 16 years old!
The Ramsey family met me in Manassas to do their portraits and we were able to start on time all thanks to their flexibility. 🙂 They came ready with smiles and even a fun bubble machine for the two kids to play with towards the end of the session. We made the most of our time together by soaking up the beautiful golden lighting. I have to say that these kids crack me up. They weren’t afraid to share what was on their mind and show off their personalities to the camera. 🙂 You’ll see more of what I mean below! Haha! One of many reasons why I love photographing family portraits. So thankful this session worked out!!!
Thank you Ramsey family for a great time and for being so flexible!!! I always enjoy my time with you and seeing your family grow. Enjoy some of my favorites!!!
As I tried gathering the crew for a photo, Luke thought he could do his own thing. Haha!
Lol! the anticipation of the bubble maker to work!
Love that golden light!!!
Zach doesn’t look amused at all! Hahahahhaha! I was dying when I snapped this photo!
That amusement didn’t last very long. 😉
