Summer, her adorable pup and I met earlier this year to get to know each other and chat about her engagement/special day. What I didn’t realize was how many connections we had between us! Not only did we have friends in common (makes sense for growing up in the same county), but her mom is a customer of my mom’s quilting business! Quilting buddies! Haha! Love that. 🙂
We had planned to do their engagement portraits a couple months ago until we had that rain cloud hovering over us for what it seemed like forever, leaving us to postpone. SO glad last week ended up working out to our advantage! 🙂 It was cold, but that is to be expected for a November engagement. What was nice to see was the foliage in the backdrop of their photos so it didn’t seem like we took these towards the end of November. 🙂 So it worked out after all! I had the best time with Brandon and Summer exploring the beautiful park! They are such a darling and beautiful couple … Not to mention, I love their love for plaid! Can we agree?! 🙂 Next year, they are getting married on a farm in Lynchburg surrounded by mountains (yesssss!)! Cannot wait to document their fairytale day at Big Spring Farm!
BRANDON & SUMMER’S LOVE STORY
How Brandon & Summer Met
from Brandon’s Perspective
I’ve been to plenty of Frederick Keys baseball games; I’ve gone since I was a kid. But this game was different from the rest. This game was my first date with Summer.
It was a gorgeous evening in mid-May and as I pulled into the parking lot and found a space to park, my mind was moving at a million miles an hour. I was nervous, excited, scared, anxious…. Is she going to like me? Am I going to like her? Sure, we had talked on the phone, seen pictures, gotten to know each other a bit; but this was it, we were meeting for the first time in person. As soon as I saw her, I realized she was not what I was expecting; she was so much more. My heart stopped, my jaw dropped, I tried my best to keep my composure as we entered the stadium for the game, and what seemed like a blink of an eye; it was over. An entire baseball game, a fireworks show, she even volunteered me to do a relay race on the field in the middle of the 7th inning (where I won a propane tank even though I lost the race), all of it, over just like that. So there we were walking back out to our cars where we would give each other a hug, say goodnight, and go our separate ways. At that time I was not sure if she would give me a second date, but now I’m the luckiest man in this world and couldn’t be happier knowing that game was our last, first date.
How Brandon Proposed
from Summer’s Perspective
Brandon took me on a surprise trip to NYC a few weeks before Christmas. For anyone who hasn’t been to New York at Christmas time, it is truly magical. I think we could have walked up and down 5th Avenue all night, drinking hot chocolate, admiring the lights and peeking in all the department stores’ Christmas windows. On the second day, we had dinner reservations and planned on checking out the tree at Rockefeller Center. It was of course insanely crowded and we couldn’t seem to find the right spot to get a picture. Luckily, they had a photographer set up to take your picture right in front of the angels. Our friends that we were visiting went first and then Brandon and I next. The photographer snapped a couple pictures while we stood and then told us to sit, but Brandon knelt instead. He told me to take off my gloves and the tears immediately started to flow. The rest is a bit of blur but I do know that it was the sweetest proposal from the sweetest man I could have ever asked for. A sweet man so full of surprises that had secretly invited three of my closest friends to be there to celebrate with us that night. Best day ever.
Thank you Brandon & Summer for such a fun time!!! 🙂 Cannot WAIT for your summer wedding! Enjoy some of my favorites! xoxo!
