We made it! We made it through the blizzard of 2016 without any power failure! Days prior to the storm, I started gearing up by of course going to the grocery store to only find myself as the stereotypical consumer needing milk! Every grocery store in Warrenton had zero milk… Just my luck! All I can say is don’t be that person who is desperate to have a refreshing Kahlua drink and mix it with almond milk. Definitely not the same!!! 😉 Hahah!
So this is the latest “Weekend Recap” I have ever done on my blog but there is a reason for that! With the blizzard that came through Friday into early Sunday morning, I decided to put business aside as well as my phone. I’ll admit though, I could have done better as I found myself at times pulling out my phone/computer when I wasn’t keeping myself occupied with a fun project or playing outside. Kyle and I played chess, baked, played Scategories with his family, toasted next to the fire and of course went sledding down their epic hill! Although, I did find out that the snow wasn’t that much fun to play in during the blizzard! Lol! The wind was brutal with the snow/sleet in our face… Not very fun. 😉 But it does make for pretty photos when the entire foreground/background is completely white creating no beginning or end!

Kyle’s dad made the most epic snow hill that we were able to sled down as our acceleration pad! It was awesome!!! You didn’t need any pushing to get started as the steep hill was eight feet tall! So what did Kyle and his brother do with that eight foot snow pile? Of course made an igloo! Lol! I was a little skeptical at first but it was definitely solid!

Their igloo was big enough for two people to go inside and sit up! I would say that is pretty impressive! There was definitely enough snow! With 30 inches of snow in Northern Fauquier and a snow plow blocking the backroad, I was unable to get back home until yesterday! I had busy plans this past weekend filled with traveling but in a way, I’m so thankful that the blizzard came through and stopped me in my tracks. Forced me inside to put technology/business aside and live in the moment, even on a weekday! Thank goodness for this slow season!!! 🙂
I hope everyone was able to have a nice, safe, warm and relaxing weekend in! Can we all be kids again???
