O’ahu, Hawaii is a piece of paradise. Although, not many agree that it’s their favorite Hawaii island. I still have more to explore, but I’ve found slivers of paradise on O’ahu that many haven’t seen. Between the hikes, views, and yummy eats, I have fallen in love with the north/eastern part of the island.
My family and I stayed in Wakiki, HI which was a great adventure, but I would hands down stay on the east coast next time. π The southern part of the island was concentrated with urban living while basically everywhere else is what I envisioned of Hawaii to be.
The northern part is big on surfing so it was fun visiting little surf towns and eating yummy shrimp! The eastern part is very scenic and just beautiful! Many gorgeous hikes, ranches, clear blue water β¦ Hands down my favorite part of the island! We didn’t have the chance to adventure on the west coast since a part of the road was closed due to the high surf.
Iβm SO EXCITED to go back to the east side of Oβahu, Hawaii in June for David and Hanaaβs wedding. Itβs going to be super dreamy with mountains and clear water all in one view! I cannot wait!
Our Time on O’ahu, Hawaii
My family and I planned three days adventuring around O’ahu, Hawaii. We spent some time walking around Wakiki where we ran across a zoo. After walking 12 miles in one day (whew, we were EXHAUSTED), the remainder of the day was spent in the car checking out the North Shore area. The surf was RIDICULOUS with waves over 40 feet tall! Some were saying 60β? It was definitely a sight to see! After all, the North Shore was able to host their “Eddie Aikau Big Wave Contest” for the first time in years a day before we arrived. That says something about the size of the waves!!!
The next day was spent exploring Pearl Harbor and of course the east coast of Oβahu. Didnβt have the time to do any of the gorgeous hikes on the east coast or even check out the Jurassic Park filming areas, but it was still great to see beyond the urban part of the island. After all, when you think of Hawaii donβt you think of beautiful beaches? Definitely not the city! π
Here are some of my favorite memories from Oβahu! Mixture of IPhone and my D700 back up camera. π
While my sister was recovering from sea sickness, my brother and I decided to venture to the zoo!
A cute little fox!! π
The Dole Plantation for some yummy pineapple ice cream was the icing on the cake! Nothing like getting lost in the world’s largest maze there!
How crazy looking is this tree?!
It feels a bit African in this photo! Haha!
Started off the next day by hiking Diamond Head! The busiest hike I have ever experienced. So beware!
But what a view!!!
Pearl Harbor was our next stop of the day! Amazing experience!!!
We finished our second/final day with adventuring around the island (south/east/north)!
Then it was time to say by to O’ahu! So sad!!!! π Looking forward to returning in June!!!
ALOHA!!!! Next stop will be photos from the Big Island next week on the blog! Stay tuned!!! π
