It started with a phone call months ago where Chanel and I had the first time to get to know each other. We could have talked for HOURS because she’s that easy to talk to. 🙂 Finally, we had the chance to meet in person for their engagement portraits on Tuesday evening. It was a beautiful day and we even had a little bit of that Beyonce wind I was talking about in yesterday’s blog post. 😉 Haha! With her beautiful long flowy dress, it was a dream to photograph on a day like Tuesday! Due to traffic, we had a little bit of a late start since they were coming from the city but we caught up in no time! It was like they had done this before because they were so easy going to photograph! 🙂
We started at the beautiful Manassas Battlefields where we were able to get a little bit of the wheat grass Chanel admired in my photographs. When we were originally figuring out where to do their engagement portraits, Chanel also requested for a field of flowers if possible. I explained that it might be too early for flowers to be blooming but we can always hope for that to happen! She had also said that she loves the cherry blossoms but we didn’t have to make that drive to DC. Well, spring definitely came early this year!!! While driving to the Manassas battlefields, I saw a group of cherry blossom trees on the side of the road as well as a huge section of daffodils on the highway median! We were in luck!!!! As we were finishing up our time at the battlefields, I told them I had two other spots chosen but it’s a little sketchy getting out there because it’s on the side of the highway. They trusted my judgement and I’m SO glad they did! I really strive to bring that vision of my couples to life and I’m SO happy that we had not only the “field of flowers” but also cherry blossom trees! Made our day that we were able to play with these beautiful spring flowers and I love that they had fun running along the highway for these photos. Haha!
CHRIS & CHANEL’S LOVE STORY
How They Met
from Chanel’s point of view
We formally met back in May 2009 in New Jersey at our friend’s graduation. However, we never got to know each other until September 2012. Chris and I played on Xbox Live with a mutual friend. We would talk on the headset for hours after playing videogames. Our friend noticed that we acted differently around each other since he knew us pretty well. He then asked us individually if we liked each other. I said, “only a crush.” Just in case Chris didn’t feel the same way. Little did I know that Chris felt the same way. I’ve been praying for someone like Chris for a while. God gave me exactly what I prayed for. He is my answered prayer.
How Chris Proposed
from Chris’ point of view
We had planned to have lunch at one of the restaurants at the National Harbor. It was a beautiful day out on Thanksgiving holiday. So we walked around, taking pictures and walked over to the spot where I was going to propose to her. It was on top of a hill, over looking the Potomac River and the Capital Wheel. I compiled a photo slideshow of us on my iPad and hid a wireless speaker near a bench where it played our favorite song. “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Haley Reinhart. The last picture on the slideshow was a picture of a small box. Chanel couldn’t figure what it was and then I said, “I’ll show you.” And that’s when I pulled out the ring from my pocket…
THANK YOU Chris and Chanel for an incredible time the other night!!! Also, thank you for trusting me. 😉 I had a blast getting to know you two and cannot wait for your wedding this fall! xoxo!!!
CONGRATS Chris and Chanel!!!
