Did you enjoy your weekend? Wasn’t the weather just amazing?! So glad that spring finally decided to come and STAY! 🙂 Just in time for wedding season to pick up this weekend! But goodness, where did the winter “slow” season go? Even though the “slow season” slipped right out of my hands, I cannot say enough how grateful I am for God’s timing with moving. Friday, my subdivision community came together and helped move in my dining room table and sofa. Why? Since the stairs in my house has an impossible turn half way up, the only option was to take it straight to the dining room/living room floor through the porch door. It was not only a great way to get to meet my neighbors, but I saw how much of a community this community really is! Without any hesitation they were all willing to help because these suckers weren’t light! So thankful for everyone who came out to help!!! I am finally starting to feel settled in my home! 🙂 Just in time for my grandparents to come visit this week!!!
To start off this blogging week, I want to share a little project I took on a while ago before moving. 🙂 I’m a HUGEEEEE fan of Restore! There is one in Warrenton (not too far away from me) so I would make trips throughout the week to spot awesome deals! Basically Habitat for Humanity Restore is the place where anyone can donate their home supplies. From lighting to sinks to doors to trim work to paint to pipes to even granite counter tops … They have so much eye candy for CHEAP! It’s a great place to find “fixer uppers” as well! Today, I’m sharing one of my fixer upper projects!
With my house, I went with a “french country” neutral decor style in my main room. I found this brass old style, Williamsburg chandelier for $20! I couldn’t pass up on that kind of a deal after doing research on how much lighting cost. Just as a comparison, Wayfair sells a two tier brass chandelier for over $250!! Do you believe me now? Restore is the place to go! 🙂 After playing around on Pinterest, I found ways to update the brass chandelier. Nothing a little spray paint can’t do! But before painting, I decided to unscrew the bottom ball off to create a simplified, updated look! There is a post inside of the ball that holds the chandelier together, so you may need to either buy a shorter post (super easy and cheap) or you can do what I did and asked Restore to cut it down for you (even cheaper)!
After you have unscrewed off the ball, it’s time to paint! Before you whip out the spray paint, I advise to stuff the light sockets with newspaper or something to protect it. Then it’s time to go to town with painting! I used the Rust-Oleum gloss white (my FAVORITE!!!!) and it covered the chandelier in no time! Since there are so many angles, definitely check every little spot. This even means flipping it upside down when you the top is dried.
WHA-LA!!!! Now you have a classy chandelier for super cheap! 🙂 Love the results!!!
Looking forward to sharing more projects with you! If you have any comments or questions, feel free to comment below!
