Matt & Lauren | Morais Vineyards, Virginia Summer Wedding Photographer

Reflecting on Matt and Lauren’s journey since our initial meeting, it has been great a joy getting to know them. They are not only fun but super sweet and personable. We spent a lot of time getting to know each other from our coffee date to their engagement session in downtown Georgetown to their final meeting with a bottle of wine at Morais Vineyards. The anticipation built as their wedding day approached and the time flew like a snap of a finger. I was excited to photograph at one of my favorite wedding venues again, work with some friendors (friends + vendors) and of course, photograph one sweet and beautiful couple!

The day of the wedding, the weather was looking hopeful as the prediction percentage of rain plummeted to 30%. We continued with our schedule photographing wedding party photos and enjoying the afternoon getting excited for the events to come. Everyone was in high spirits and cheerful as the day was unfolding beautifully. It was brought to our attention 30 minutes before the ceremony that a storm was quickly making its way towards Morais Vineyards. We all really thought that we could squeeze the ceremony in before the storm came but had to make last minute adjustments and move the ceremony inside. Fortunately, everyone made it inside before the downpour began. Matt and Lauren had a beautiful ceremony as nothing could ever not be beautiful inside Morais Vineyards. 🙂 Following the ceremony, we had to switch some things around as we noticed a three minute open window between storms to photograph the wedding party group portraits (so glad that worked out!!). Matt, Lauren and I still took advantage of the portrait time outside, despite the rain. 🙂 In one of the photos, it looks like it’s snowing! Haha! As we headed back in to start the party, I noticed that the clouds potentially looked like they were going to clear up so we continued with our “sunset portrait” plan. I was just hoping for no rain but we actually ended up with sunshine and a sunset!!! God answered some prayers! During dinner, we headed outside to take advantage of the beautiful sight and I’m so thankful they were willing to do that. 🙂 That time together really kicked off the reception spirit! Even with rain on a wedding day things always seem to work out, but there’s nothing better than some Vitamin D. 🙂 Matt and Lauren danced the night away with their closest family and friends as the perfect start to their marriage.
