DIY Laundry Organizer

DIY Laundry Organizer | Cabinet + Rod

It was about a year ago when I signed papers to build my townhome. I was stoked to go through the process and went to work designing my ideal living space! One thing I noticed when touring through the model homes was the wire shelves. You know what I’m saying? I had wire shelves in a home I rented over a year ago, and they were the worst!!! One of the closets had a wire shelf and rod to support an abundance of clothes. One day I walked in to find everything on the ground because the wire shelf broke! I currently have wire shelves in my food pantry and nervous to find cans on the floor. I’m finding myself strategizing where to place cans on the shelf, where my OCD-self wants all of the cans grouped together. Anyone relate to this? The pantry is for another time. 😉

During the months of excitement, planning and shopping, I found the best place for inspiration! I shopped at Habitat for Humanity weekly for new ideas and goodies. They had the most random things, but when I ran across cabinets for less than $20, I came up with a solution for my laundry pantry! Love good deals! The only thing I needed to do was paint the cabinet white and add two knobs so I can easily open the doors. It was the perfect solution to concealing laundry detergents. Besides the cabinet, I reallyyyy wanted a space to hang dry my clothes. When I was renting, hang drying clothes on every door around my room and bathroom wasn’t ideal. It made my room look messy, cluttered and it wasn’t convenient at all. A simple closet rod stretching from the wall to the cabinet was the solution! I found one at Home Depot in the closet section for $8, so it was worth it!! Two screws in the wall studs and I had a cabinet installed! The rod had to sit a certain distance (at least 10 inches) from the wall so I had to anchor it, but it was a simple solution after anchoring many screws around my house! Haha! Wa-la!

So easy! Doesn’t this look more functional? Not to mention, prettier! Try it out!!
