I pulled into the apple orchard to meet Jacob and Brittany for the first time, but I realized that this might not have been my first time passing by Brittany. Turned out that Brittany lives just around the corner from me! Small world. 🙂 They gave me a good laugh, though, when I first got out of my car. Before even introducing myself, they were cracking up with “I told you!!” to eachother. I asked them what was going on and they apparently had a bet with what type of car I drove. It was hilarious because Brittany guessed it correctly!!!! But knowing that I’ll be in the car buying market in the near future made me consider Jacob’s guess! They know me well!! 🙂 Haha!
We ran around the apple orchard on one of the most beautiful fall days! The weather has blessed my couples lately, and I’m counting on it for the remainder of the year (and the years to come, of course!!). 😉 It was fun getting to know these two throughout our short time together. They are busy bees finishing school while starting to plan their big day for 2019! At least they built in plenty of time to wedding plan and enjoy their engagement. 🙂 To really celebrate this milestone, they wanted to make their engagement portraits happen during this popular time of the year. How Jacob and Brittany Met
from Jacob’s perspective
Our story is fairly simple actually. We met through mutual friends during Brittany’s first year at George Mason. The first time we met it was as if we had known each other for years. We instantly hit it off and started talking. We talked for about a month and went on a couple dates before I asked her to be my girlfriend. A year and a half later I asked Brittany to spend the rest of our lives together and the rest is history!

Brittany’s perspective
I woke up that day not knowing that my whole life was about to change and that the man of my dreams was getting ready to propose to me. My childhood best friend and I went to get our nails done and to take pictures at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, which is where Jacob and I had our first kiss. I had a feeling something was going to happen but I had convinced myself that it wasn’t going to happen because thanks to social media, Jacob had it made it seem like he was spending the day with his friends. When Kimberly and I got to Meadowlark I had no idea that Jacob and a few of our friends were there and ready for the big moment. It was hot out, there was bugs flying around us and geese everywhere so naturally I complained. Eventually we made it down to this path that was lined with roses and I mentioned how cute it looked. Kimberly and I came to a bench that had a book and a rose that said “My Best Friend” so I turned to her and said “Look! There’s a book for us!”. Laughing, she told me to look again and I was so confused until I realized what was going on. As I read the book I cried my eyes out. Halfway through the book it told me to stop and follow the path, so I did and there was Jacob waiting for me and I began crying even more. After he promised to love me forever, I anxiously said yes before he could even get the question out! Jacob is my other half and I am so happy I get to spend forever with him!
Jacob’s perspective
I had brought up one of Brittany’s childhood friends for the weekend. She took Brittany out for a girls day so that her nails were ready for the ring I was about to give her. I brought some of my closest friends to the proposal sight to take pictures and video of the proposal as it was happening. The week before I took one of my friends with me to scout out the most perfect spot. Once we found the perfect spot I began to plan the most perfect proposal for the love of my life. The spot was at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens where we had our first kiss. It was an arched bridge with a stone path that I had lined with roses and along the way there was a bench that I had left a book for Brittany with our story. I anxiously waited for Brittany to get to the book, which felt like it took years. Once she got to the book I had her read three quarters of the book which explained everything that I loved about her and us. After she read that part of the book I had her stop reading and follow the path of roses which lead to me on the bridge. As she walked up to me she had tears rolling down her face and the biggest smile I have ever seen. I then read the last quarter of the book to her which was my promise to love and take care of her forever. After I read it, I then got down on one knee and before I could even ask the question she was saying yes. I finally got to ask her to marry me and she said yes again, of course. I felt not only relieved but extremely happy that my dreams of marrying my best friend was finally coming true. We couldn’t stop hugging each other with tears of happiness rolling down our faces and now we are planning our dream wedding!
