Tim and Carina were in town for just the weekend, and I was SO grateful we managed to make this session happen! The fall season is a bit hectic for many, especially with the winter season coming … Really, not many people want to be outside shivering, and I don’t blame them!! We had beautiful even lighting for their engagement session from the clouds and even Beyonce wind! 😉 Their patience was evident as we waited at times for the wind to calm down. Apparently, Beyonce was a little too excited! Ha! No one wants hair all over their face! Haha! But I love how these photos turned out!!!
When we were discussing the ideal location for their engagement portraits, Manassas Battlefields rung the bell! They love nature and TREES! Especially, climbable trees! I had the perfect tree in mind for them to test drive. 🙂 As soon as we got there, Tim wasn’t afraid to jump and hop all over the branches … We even had a little Spiderman moment! Haha! I love how these two love to have fun together, especially when they are adventuring! From rock climbing to climbing trees … I admire their sense of adventure! Also, the way they look into each other’s eyes and cannot help but smile SO big … I LOVE that!!! Last week was my first time meeting them in person and it was very evident how happy they make one another. <3 Gah, they are precious!!!

I will never forget the night that I met Carina. It was June 2015, and I had come down from Boulder to attend a friend’s birthday party in Downtown Denver at Wynkoop Brewery. I was playing shuffleboard with some friends and noticed a breathtaking girl talking to my friend, Heather. This girl was also wearing an ankle wrap. Having experienced a gnarly ankle injury just a year earlier, I approached this stunning girl to see how she injured her ankle and what the injury was. This is the conversation that Carina maintains to this day that she does not remember! When she told me she injured it playing soccer, I was undone. I couldn’t believe that this beautiful woman was, first, willing to talk to me, second, a soccer player, and third, an exercise physiologist! Unfortunately, our conversation did not much extend beyond this for quite some time. It wasn’t until February 2016, when I was out to lunch at, ironically, Wynkoop Brewery, that I received a Facebook friend request from Carina. I immediately accepted and sent her a message to see if she would be interested in going out sometime. After eagerly awaiting a response over my mac and cheese lunch, Carina agreed to go out with me, and from there, the rest is history. I don’t think I could be any more excited to call Carina my future wife!

On a beautiful morning in August 2017, Tim and I set out to climb the second flatiron in Boulder with some friends. I was nervous – I had never truly done any outdoor rock climbing, but Tim was very supportive every step of the way ensuring that I made it to the top safely. My heart was already racing from the adrenaline of the high exposure climb when we summited, but little did I know what Tim had in store. Tim found a flat spot on top of the mountain to have our picture taken by a friend. After the photo, Tim got down on one knee right there on the edge of the mountain and pulled the ring out from his back pocket. He said to me, “That was one heck of an adventure, and I am looking forward to a lifetime of adventures together. Will you marry me?” Heart racing and jaw dropped, I said yes! Our friends pulled champagne bottles and flutes out from their packs and we toasted on top of that mountain to our engagement and the beginning of the rest of our lives together!
Thank you, Tim and Carina, for handling the wind with easement and looking like rock stars out there!!! That Beyonce wind added a beautiful element in these photos!! I cannot wait to see you guys again next year on your wedding day!!! We are going to have the best time!! Congratulations on your engagement and enjoy this preview from our time together!
