I remember photographing Ashley and her brother YEARS ago, but when Ashley contacted me this time around, it was for a different reason!!! ๐ ๐ ๐ Ashley excitingly emailed me saying she was ENGAGED! When I saw Ashley for her and Mike’s engagement session, she immediately lit the room โ ย They are completely smitten by each other, which makes myย photographer’s heart so happy! But I also quickly picked up how much Caroline, their sweet and precious daughter, mean to them. She is so dang adorable, and I cannot WAIT to see how she plays her part in her parent’s wedding!!! AH! I hope she’s ready for her close up! ๐
For Mike and Ashley’s engagement session, we had to be very cautious about the location because it was the end of January, which meant SUPER frigid sunset temps! And goodness, it was cold and windy!!! We restricted photos with Caroline inside of the horse barn to not freeze her little bum off, which was definitely a good move! Mike and Ashley braved the cold and ran outside with me for 5-minutes to photograph during the glowy, creamy sunset! Gosh, the weather was brutal, but they made these photos look EASY! <3 We just couldn’t beat that gorgeous lighting! Holy moly!!!! Hopefully, their February wedding day is on the milder side. ๐ HA! Either way, I cannot wait!
Mike & Ashley’s Love Story
Due to the unfortunate circumstances of Mikes father unexpectedly passing away in June 2014, Mike and I were reconnected. I attended Mikes fathers visitation with my grandfather. Shortly after that Mike reached out to me and we started chatting here and there, which was followed by us starting to spend time together that August. Mike was very persistent with wanting to spend time with me. Mike had to finish his last year of grad school at Virginia Tech that fall. But I attended a lot of football games that year and we spent quite a bit of time together during that year. Mike graduated in May of 15 and shortly after that we had started to talk about marriage and kids etc, that August we found out that we were expecting our first child. And decided to put our time and money into buying our first home instead of planning a wedding. January of 16 we settled on our first home and that April we welcomed our daughter. We continued to talk about our wedding etc and when it would be even though Mike still hadn’t officially proposed to me. May of 2017 I thought we were going to run errands and have a date day. Little did I know that Mike had planned to take me to pick out my engagement ring and propose!
