Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!!! I’m missing my other half right now as Alex serves the Zimbabwean community. So proud of him for taking his talents and knowledge to help those in need. What a great way to experience the medical world by working in another country!!! Alex has shown God’s faithfulness through our relationship, and I feel so incredibly happy having him by my side going into the 2018 year! I’m missing him so much, especially on a day like today, but I cannot WAIT to see him on February 25th!! AH! Two and a half weeks down, one and a half weeks to go! SO excited!!!
It’s time to introduce and welcome the newest member of Stephanie Messick Photography, Ollie the golden pup!!! Ollie is the fluffiest, sweetest little thing, and he obviously needs his own blog post because there’s too much cuteness to keep to myself! 🙂 I’ve been looking to have a dog of my own for a long time, but have waited patiently for the right time. Even trying to convince my family to get a dog since my family dog passed away in high school has been quite the challenge! Haha! There’s a LOT of work that goes into owning a puppy, and I wanted to make sure the timing was right since wedding season can be chaotic to devote train a new pup. And goodness, today he definitely showed his mischievious side… WHEW. But overall, I see so much potential and I’m working with him every day to ensure he’s a good dog!
One of my couples I photographed last year, Cameron and Haley, connected me with a golden retriever breeder close to Harrisonburg, Virginia. It was actually Haley’s dad who RAVED about his golden, and after all of his talk/seeing photos, I decided to reach out to Colebrook about their puppies! It was love at first sight when I spotted Ollie out of the liter, and I could not be more thrilled with the process of loving him. 🙂
I’ve learned so much just the past three days, and I know it’s only the start!!! I had to laugh at myself yesterday… I had a total “mom moment” when I was cleaning up Pixie’s puke and turned around to see Ollie peeing on the floor… #gimmeallthewine … 😉 Not really, but really. So I definitely deserved that glass (or two) of wine while trying to watch the Bachelor last night. HA! I absolutely LOVE the puppy snuggles, but I also look forward to Ollie being compatible to hold his bladder longer than 2-hours. My nights have been filled with nonstop alarms to take him outside, but you’ll be surprised to know that crate training is successful so far! He looks forward to snuggling with his buddy (seriously, melts my heart!) and sleeps well during the night (when he sleeps in between potty breaks). Leash training is also good, except he gets a little TOO excited sometimes! Most times, he walks right next to me and knows to ideally take care of business outside! He’s also catching on to specific commands quickly, so he keeps impressing me more and more! I cannot wait to see what else I learn about him over the weeks/months/years ahead!
Many people keep asking me how Pixie is dealing with the news … That has been an interesting adventure so far. 😉 At first, she was unsure. She still is, but now I can tell that she’s freaking out that Ollie didn’t just visit for one day, but MOVED into “her” house! I’m hoping Pixie will be best buds with him as he grows. Or at least tolerates him. 😉 HA! Time will only tell! But I’m making sure to snuggle with Pixie at night and give her lots of attention too. Afterall, she was my first fur baby!
Enough talking!! Let’s check out photos from the past few days!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 I hope you adore Ollie as much as I do. I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops over the months ahead, and I only hope to be the best fur momma for Ollie! Also, I’m loving the process of family/friends meeting him because I want to socialize him with as many people/animals/places as possible. So far, he is doing great and is so loveable … Until he shows off how much he loves to chew on everything. We are working on that. 😉 HA!
Happy Valentine’s Day from Ollie!!!
