Oh, what a pretty day we had for David and Lauren’s engagement! Although, a bit chilly, but Lauren somehow was in tune with the beach sunshine and made it work without a winter coat on. Don’t ask me how she was able to do it because I was a total wimp and wore gloves during these photos!!!
When we first arrived in Middleburg, I just wanted to snuggle with their pup!!! I mean, how could you not when you see a dog with an American flag bow tie? HA! Also, Bubs (the pup) and I were besties because I could call him Bubs. 😉 He was a trip … I caught him in his little moments of spontaneously peeing and some hilarious facial expressions! You cannot miss them below! 😉
David and Lauren are simply the cutest! The smiles and laughs they share together were contagious during our time together. 🙂 They came with beautiful formal wear that contrasted so well with the Middleburg atmosphere, especially when we found a white-washed stone building. And Middleburg, Virginia was the perfect destination for their engagement session, especially since they will be getting hitched just around the corner at Salamander Resort this fall! 🙂 I cannot WAIT!!!
David & Lauren’s Love Story
How David and Lauren Met
We met in the hallways of Loudoun County High School after Lauren moved to Northern Virginia in 2002. We became quick friends and eventually the friendship evolved into something deeper. We became “official” during the summer prior to our junior year of high school.
How David Proposed to Lauren
from Lauren’s perspective
We were on vacation out west with a plan to drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles along CA State Route 1 – something we had always wanted to do when we lived in San Francisco but just never found the time. David made the case to start the trip at one of our favorite places for pictures, the Marin Headlands, which overlooks the Golden Gate Bridge and the City by the Bay.
As we took a number of selfies with our former home in the background he asked a girl with sunglasses and a hat if she wouldn’t mind taking a proper photo of us. Generally, the area is incredibly busy with runners, bicyclists, and tourists enjoying the scenery so I thought nothing of it. As she snapped away I couldn’t help but think that she reminded me of a really close friend. Preoccupied with trying to place her, David grabbed my hand, got down on one knee, and presented a ring. He asked, “will you marry me?” and of course I said “yes!”
Shortly after that moment the passerby took off her hat and sunglasses and I finally put things together– it was my friend! It turned out that David had been coordinating with her for weeks. Not only did she capture the big question she also captured the moment I realized who she was.
Thank you, David and Lauren, for a great time together!! Bubs was so well behaved and the cutest prop for your photos!!! 🙂 I cannot wait to see you all again and photograph your wedding day moments! For now, enjoy these precious moments as an engaged couple!!! CONGRATS!!!
