Don’t we all love to admire pretty photos? Especially when it involves sparkly jewelry, shoes, and dresses! 😉 This post is a pretty one because it includes all of the above!!! Today, I’m continuing the “2017 Favorites” series with prepping details! 🙂 If you missed yesterday’s blog post, I shared some of my favorite family portraits from 2017. I love doing this series every year, and I’m happy to finally take the time to reflect on the amazing times I had with my couples/clients/friends last year!!

As a part of my wedding routine, I make sure to include built-in time to photograph details like the shoes, jewelry, bouquet, dress, invitation, etc. It’s important to document these items for a few reasons! First, it gives me the opportunity to be creative! I love starting the day off with a little creativity before jumping right into portraits. 🙂 I’ll even arrive earlier than the contracted time if I know I’m tight on the timeline to photograph these details. Another reason why it’s important — The bride and groom took the time, thought, and money on each of these pieces. It’s a very selective process!! Why? Because not only does it tie in the theme/atmosphere of their wedding, but it tells you a little bit about their personalities! Another reason why it’s a good idea to have the dress, invitation, jewelry, shoes, etc. photographed — The trends in the wedding industry and fashion change so often. When I look back through my parent’s wedding album, my mom’s wedding dress is a point of conversation because the poofy sleeves were a big thing then! It’s nice to have the trends documented so future generations have a little glimpse of the era we grew up. Lastly, I love starting the wedding day admiring everything, especially when I lay eyes on the bride’s dress! 🙂 Every detail is special and particular to the couple. I got teared up taking this photo — This rose necklace represented the bride’s deceased father, and it was a gift Stephen gave Becca. <3 So thoughtful!!!
