When rain tries to dampen our plans, we overcome and strategize a better idea!! 🙂 We did just that, but it meant that we had to wake up pretty early to make these photos happen. I’m very appreciative of their optimism and willingness to do a sunrise session! It was absolutely worth it!!! 🙂 Although, it was surprising how many people were out and about around the Great Falls National Park that early! HA! You cannot tell in these photos below (fortunately), but we had to wait for pretty large groups to pass by as we took pictures. I’m glad didn’t hinder our time together!! 🙂 But what almost hindered our time was when I basically ATE DIRT. Really … I wore flip flops to their session which was a horrible idea because we were climbing on so many uneven sandy rocks. So whatever you have envisioned for how I fell down, that happened, and I’ll own it! 😉 Whatever! Now I just have a little battle wound souvenir in the meantime. HA!

Let me just say that Meghan is just as SWEET as they come! And goodness, not only photogenic but just as beautiful inside as she is out! <3 Meghan is currently an OBGYN resident, so we had a lot to talk about between the wedding details and her work, especially since Alex is currently going through the residency program! Meghan is one of those brides you instantly can tell that she can get along with just about anyone! She has one of those approachable personalities that is lovely, warm-hearted, patient, gentle, and so kind. Not to mention, she’s going to be one GORGEOUS bride on her and Graham’s wedding day! I can hardly wait to see!!! It was fun getting to know Graham too during the engagement session! He works in a contracting business in DC, which has to be crazy!!! Between the DC environment to the high-end customers, I can only imagine the work-life stress! And between Meghan and Graham’s schedules, I can only imagine how they are planning for a big wedding next spring!!! Kudos to them! 🙂 While I was photographing Graham and Meghan, I could tell that Graham has a very stoic, manly appearance that could rock a black and white photo! I’m sure a lot of his groom portraits on their wedding day will involve some of that inspiration!!! Especially with the man-bun — Speaking of which, since photographing their engagement session, I’ve noticed the man-bun as a “thing!” Alex said it has been a thing in Richmond, so either I’m behind on the times or the trend is starting to grow. <= get it. 😉 Anyways, I’m excited to share the results of our early rise with you all today!!!!

Graham & Meghan’s Love Story

How Graham and Meghan Met

Like I mentioned above, Meghan is getting through the tedious OBGYN residency program. She was having a difficult time getting through her intern year because of the demands and the work hours, and it turned out when she had met Graham, he was also in a place in his life where he was ready for a change of pace. Their first date happened at a bar with casual talk and beers in hand. Meghan says the song “It all started with a beer” by Frankie Ballard instantly brings them back to their first date. 🙂 But it was completely true because their love story started with a beer at a bar! Since that point, they used their time together as an escape from the tedious work-life. As they dated, Graham threw out the idea of moving up to Maryland to be closer to her, and that’s when their relationship grew fonder. Their relationship didn’t only grow over time, but it grew by another four feet because soon after, they adopted their fur babe, Duke! 🙂

How Graham Proposed to Meghan

It was a weekend-long event that all led to the perfect proposal! Because Meghan works as a resident for the OBGYN program, she had to serve a rotation at the Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC for a month around the start of the Christmas season. She really missed home, as she had to leave Graham and Duke behind for four weeks. But as she was finishing the rotation in the city, Graham came to visit her the last weekend to take her out! They saw Wicked on Broadway, went ice skating at Rockafellar, saw the Christmas decorations, had dinner with one of her best friends and her husband, and explored around NYC! Meghan loves the Christmas season and traditions, so it was only appropriate to stop in NJ that Sunday to see her parents, pick up Duke, and go Chrstmas tree shopping on their way back down the coast. But once they got home, they really got into the Christmas spirit! They listened to music, drank wine by the fire … and then Graham spoke the sweetest of words that ended with the “Will you be my forever?” question! To her surprise, he pulled out a ring and she quickly responded with ‘YES!’ which was the easiest questions she had ever answered!! Now they are planning a big celebration with family and friends to wed next spring!

Thank you, Graham and Meghan, for waking up before sunrise to create these special memories together!!!! I cannot wait to document your wedding day! AH! I know it’s going to be incredibly beautiful!
