Kids will do and say the darnest things. But that’s actually what I hope to document and embrace when I’m photographing families! It’s fun to think about the qualities I love about weddings and family portraits since they can be very different experiences. Wedding days are typically a controlled atmosphere. We follow a customized photo timeline throughout the course of the day to ensure a stress-free experience for everyone. 🙂 What’s different for family portraits, especially when photographing young kids, you NEVER know what’s going to happen next. That’s the best part — I love their spontaneity! There were many times throughout this session with the Ours family I turned around and the kids were climbing on something or anything climbable. But instead of pulling them away from their monkey business for a photo, I wanted to embrace their child-like playfulness! We used it as opportunities for portraits because they were in their element. So this may be my favorite session of the Ours family we have done so far!! 🙂
The sweet Ours family has been supporting my business year after year as the kids grow. I’m VERY grateful for them and their friendship! Not to mention, Kristy is one drop-dead-gorgeous momma! Even though she’s outnumbered by guys in her house, she is SO patient with them. I told her how much I admired her throughout our time together because just with having a DOG has taught me about my patience level. I’ve considered myself a pretty patient woman, but Ollie has taught me that I could work on that. 😉 HAHA! So Kristy and Wes, kudos to you! <3 I also adore their children sooooo much! I remember when Trip was growing up, he despised having his photos taken. This time around, though, he was flaunting his personality and wasn’t afraid to be in front of the camera! 🙂 I found it hilarious by the end of the session, Trip was asking where I lived as we were heading out. HAHA! That kid. 😉 Love him!!! Their littlest one, Arlie … OH MY GOSH. Those eyes and smile will just melt you every time. He also loved flirting with the camera by batting his beautiful blue eyes. 🙂 SUPER cute!!! Their middle one, Silas, had to take some time to warm up in front of the camera. But by the halfway point, he opened right up after some entertainment! Haha! Towards the end of the session, I was making the family portraits into a game for the kids, and they were having a blast making faces and tripping over each other! It was a sight!! I’m honored to have documented this time of their lives and hope they will cherish these for years down the road. <3
