Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

Since the initial phone call with Amy, we have been amazed by our coincidental commonalities. Even to this day, I keep discovering funny things we can relate. For instance, I knew Amy showed cows growing up (as did I since I also grew up on a dairy farm), but I just realized that we had the same name for our show cows, Daisy!!! Seriously? Another funny coincidence we discovered during our initial conversation was that both of us were involved in the Dairy Princess Program! HA! Back in high school, no one knew what that meant … They just thought I was a part of the food chain Dairy Queen or something like that. Not quite. But it was cool growing up riding in a convertible with a sash and tiara doing the princess wave in the Apple Blossom parade! That was my past life… I won’t go further into that. 😉 HA! But seriously, though, I remember being in complete awe when Amy and I connected! And when I had the opportunity to meet Travis and Amy in person, I knew I was in for a TREAT. We met at the gorgeous Soleado Lavender Farm last summer for their engagement session and it was definitely one of my favorite sessions last year!! If you haven’t read their love story or seen their engagement session, check it out HERE!!

Fast forward to last Saturday… After burying the bourbon at their ceremony ground a month ago on a pretty day, I would say they were blessed with one GORGEOUS September day!!! Being that their wedding happened 10-miles south of the Pennslyvania border, it was a bit of a hike to get there, but SO worth the drive! I’m glad I always build in extra time into my drive because one of the highways practically shut down from a horrible accident. Thanks to Waze, I got there before my contract time started. 🙂 Thank goodness for always planning ahead! When it came Travis and Amy preparing for their big day, there were a LOT of working parts. It was so special that the wedding happened at a very sentimental place not just for Amy, but for her family because it took place at her gorgeous family farm. It’s not very often I have the opportunity to photograph a wedding where the bride grew up, so every corner of the property whether it was a detail for the celebration or a detail that has been there for years, had sentimental value. You’ll see a LOT of these personalized details below … Just you wait!! 🙂

Like I said above, there were a lot of working parts and hands that went into making this day happen. In fact, they even built the barn where they had the reception after the proposal with the intention to use it for their big day! They had BIG dreams and plans, and they made it happen!!! However, a couple months ago, Travis was involved in a foot injury and needed to go into surgery. With a lot of work left to do around the farm, Amy and her family kept their optimistic perspective that everything would together, despite the fact that Travis might be in a boot the day of the wedding. Not only was the day picture-perfect, but Travis healed to the point where the doc gave him permission to be boot-free the day of his wedding!!! It really was a miracle!! I’m SO grateful my sweet 2014 couple, Josh and Kaitlyn, connected us because it was definitely a highlight of my year photographing Travis and Amy’s celebration!

Travis and Amy’s Wedding Day

When I drove up to the house to meet Amy and the girls, I was in awe over how beautiful their house was! As if it was meant to have weddings hosted on their property. Amy’s parents might want to consider that type of business in the near future. 😉

I love these flannels Amy gifted her girls. 🙂 So perfect for her fall farm wedding!

I love these flannels Amy gifted her girls. 🙂 So perfect for their fall farm wedding! Also, I loved catching Amy helping her bridal party get dressed. Very thoughtful!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

The silver comb and mirror were given to Amy by her grandmother when she was young. Which actually reminds me that I also have the same set and need to find it because it is special. 😉

Amy looked GORGEOUS in her Kenneth Winston dress!!! Her dress and veil were considered her “Something New” and the bridal party were considered her “Something Blue!”  Although, she had blue on the bottom of her flats too, so she was covered either way! 😉

Amy wrote sweet letters to Travis, her dad, brother, and her mom. 🙂 Gosh, she’s so thoughtful!!! It’s funny because when I first walked into the clubhouse area to find Travis, I was caught off guard because I was looking for him with a boot/cast on! I was RELIEVED when I saw he was boot-free!!!

Amy had a heart patch sewn into her dress from her father’s work jeans. So sweet!

The men all received personalized tie clips (great gift idea!!) and Amy gave Travis a nice watch with a tag that read, “Don’t be late” because she says to him often. 😉 Haha!

Gosh, I love the back of her dress!!!!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

On the back of Amy’s father and Travis’s ties were embroidered messages like “I love you most” and “Dad, I loved you first.” The sewn heart on the inside of Travis’s tie was made from a piece of his grandfather’s work shirts. 🙂

Gosh, Amy … You’re STUNNING. Also, this locket Travis gifted Amy on their wedding day makes me want to play the song, “Forever on Your Side” by NEEDTOBREATHE. 🙂

Amy had personalized hangers for all of the girls as well as her own hanger. I also loved that both sides of her hanger were customized (as you see in the sewn heart photo above)! Also, the bracelet Amy wore last Saturday was borrowed from her mother as her “Something Borrowed.” And speaking of her mom, she gifted her an embroidered handkerchief that was originally Amy’s grandmother’s handkerchief. Amy also gifted an embroidered handkerchief to Travis’s mom too that had a sewn heart made from one of her father’s work shirts.

The men definitely enjoyed their hanging out time in the clubhouse area — Pretty sweet hang out spot for the guys because it had a pool table and a bunch of manly snacks … Like cheese whiz and Doritos. HA!

After much anticipation, it was time to start the ceremony!! I’m so glad they were able to have the wedding outside with this beautiful bean field view!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

These pew candles were used from Amy’s parent’s wedding!! So special!

I love that they wanted to have the chapel atmosphere outside — Doors, pews and all!

Speaking of pews, these were purchased by Travis’s grandparents from a church several years ago. It was perfect for their special day!!

As you can see, Travis was in awe over Amy! 🙂

I love this stormy blue color with the white/green bouquets!!

I love that their officiant, who was actually Amy’s principal back in the day, had Travis and Amy write love letters to each other. 🙂 He read them out loud during the ceremony for everyone to hear — SO sweet!!

THEY DID IT!!!!

The bourbon worked!!! They ended up with the most perfect day! 🙂

Have you seen such a more gorgeous bridal party?!

Besides the flannels, Amy also gifted her girls these earrings to wear with their dresses. The perfect amount of bling. 😉 Also, I loved the style of dress Amy chose! So classy and I’m always a fan of the long, flowy dresses!

SO FUN!

These two. HA! This is actually funny because his best man, Evan, asked me if they could recreate a childhood photo… I’m still laughing!!

As we were taking individual photos, one of Travis’s friends came in for a hug with Travis and the pin from his boutonniere stabbed right through his shirt! Who knew a friendly hug could be so dangerous? Ha!

Awe! A little sister-in-law moment. <3

WELL. What can we say about this photo? Caption that! HAHA!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

This white Bible attached to Amy’s bouquet is so special because it was a Bible that her mom and grandmother carried on their weddings!!! This was also considered her “Something Old.”

Of course, we needed to play with the cows!!

Love these two together!!

And be amazed by all of the hard work everyone put into this barn!! Amy was going after a vintage, country feel with pops of burgundy, blues, white, and lots of greenery! It turned out very classy and was the ideal September wedding set up with the twist of white pumpkins and mums!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

Her memory table had special pieces as well. I love how every table and corner around the room was thoughtfully designed! Also, every piece has some sort of significance, which makes me love these details even more!!!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

HOW cute of an idea is this?!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

The family farm was recently renamed to Daisy Farm after Amy’s 17-year old cow, Daisy, passed away last December. Amy had little flower daisies at each table in memory of her.

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

The slate used on the tables were from around the farm as well as the galvanized tubes!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

All of the crates, like the one shown below under the mum, were used when Amy’s grandparents had an orchard. 🙂 And, of course, we cannot forget to display the half-full bourbon! 😉

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

Pretty set up for the dessert! The side table had a bunch of little pastries for guests to enjoy. YUM!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

GORGEOUS set up!!!! I think it’s so fun they hung old windows above the buffet!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

All of these pretty chandeliers added so much character to the room!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

Travis and Amy know how to make an entrance in style!!! This tractor is Amy’s grandfather’s tractor, but it’s the same exact style tractor Travis grew up driving with his own grandfather! Meant to be, I tell ya! <3

In the middle of the song mentioned about how many children they would want to have — Amy showed two fingers! HAHAHA!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

This speech given by Amy’s father was SO sweet. He’s so proud of her and Travis. I also loved and teared up when he dedicated a part of his speech to his lovely wife, raving about how lucky he is to have her in his life. SERIOUSLY?! *Cue the tears…*

Then it was DANCING TIME!!!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

I had the opportunity to chat with Amanda, Amy’s maid of honor, while we were running around. Turned out she was also a part of the Maryland Dairy Princess Program! Haha! Gosh … Childhood memories. 😉 Anyways, I love some of the things she said in her speech that had everyone cracking up! Like how Amy forced Amanda to play “horsey” when they were young and forced her to eat animal feed in the barn… HAHA! I also love that she warned Travis to not be surprised if Amy brings home a new pet once a month. Being that Amy is a vet, I wouldn’t expect anything less. 😉 Saving the world one animal at a time. Haha! Hearing this immediately reminded me of Fixer Upper because Chip and Jo have 145+ animals on their farm and say they bring in a new pet at least once a month. If Chip and Jo do it, then it’s totally normal! 😉

I spy one of my 2014 couples!!! HI, Josh and Kaitlyn!!! <3 <3 <3

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

Towards the end of the reception, Travis and Amy gathered their wedding party in the clubhouse to personally thank their wedding party for being a part of their special day. 🙂 CHEERS!

Travis & Amy | A Maryland Farm Wedding

A great day!!!! <3
