We watched the weather like it was our job every day leading up to the final hour before Eric and Rae tied the knot! Crazy storms were in the distance, but our prayers were answered because the rain just started as I drove away from this ceremony!!! So blessed. 🙂 The rain worked around our timeline so we were able to maximize our time together. Before we dive into the day, let’s rewind a little bit…
Rae contacted me back in October excitingly telling me that we met at a mutual friend’s baby shower (heeeey, Sam Downs!!!) and she had plans to marry her best friend in the springtime with just parents and siblings to witness! I was excited by the idea of a small, intimate wedding, and of course, Rae’s enthusiasm and connections had me even more on board with photographing their celebration. 🙂 After they went back and forth with different venue ideas, they ultimately decided on Chrysalis Vineyards in Middleburg because that was where Eric popped the big question!! Now it will forever be a sentimental place to them. <3 They were also going back and forth with different dates and asked me for my availability — Whenever this happens, I’m always humbled that someone wants to work with my schedule!!! On the other hand, it’s even more nerve-wracking if the weather doesn’t work in our favor… Sooooo, I can say that I’m VERY relieved prayers were answered for Rae and Eric’s wedding!!! WHEW. 😉
Now let’s fast forward to a couple of weeks ago when Rae and Eric said ‘I DO!’ to forever. I love that couples can uniquely identify with what they want out of their big day. Whether that is a destination wedding, elopement, intimate, HUGE, etc. There are so many ways to celebrate! Rae and Eric brought it back to family. 🙂 They just had their parents and siblings there to witness their ceremony and then celebrate at the winery with cheese, wine, and Georgetown Cupcakes! Doesn’t that sound like SO much fun?!?!!? Later that evening, they went up towards the city to celebrate dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steak House. It was perfectly them and low key, which was what they hoped and dreamed for their wedding. 🙂 Now they are planning a big honeymoon trip to Alaska to really celebrate the newlywed life!!! 🙂 Check out their intimate time with their favorite people below!!!
Eric & Rae’s Intimate Wedding Day
She wore her mother’s veil. So special!!!
Rae had her father and stepfather come in to see her all dolled up and have a moment together before the ceremony began. 🙂 Eric was outside in the meantime putting on his boutonniere and making sure his details were all set! He even sported these fun cuff links!
Then it was time!!! 🙂
I loved how personable the ceremony was. Especially since they had Eric’s father officiate the ceremony!
The families watched from the sides as they exchanged vows and rings. 🙂
They did it!!!
Time to celebrate!!!!
After family photos and celebrating with a glass of champagne, Eric, Rae, and I headed towards the vines to photograph some portraits! This is actually where Eric popped the question to Rae!!! 🙂 Even though it was basically Noon when we took these photos, we worked with the light at that time of the day! They look SO happy in these photos below!!!
Rae, you’re beautiful!!!!
And that view!!!!
