Brian & Jenn | Washington, DC Engagement Photographer

It’s not very often when I take on DC sessions, but when I do, they are some of my FAVORITE. I seem to forget the traffic or the early alarm or the FREEZING temps that we had to face when I just see pure JOY in the engagement portraits posted on the blog. And, goodness, Brian and Jenn’s sunrise Washington D.C. session was no exception. 🙂

Jenn stepped out of their car with a beautiful long burgundy dress with a lace see-through back that was definitely a show-stopper! Brian dressed to impress too! I love it when guys layer colors and textures — A great combination!! As beautiful as a couple as they are, I knew they could pull off anything. 🙂 They could wear a potato sack and make it look GOOD. When I look at these photos, I see they have a great sense of style and super photogenic, but most importantly, I see an undeniable fun bond between them. That bond was built on a foundation of friendship, all thanks to a kickball league in Arlington, VA! Maybe they were warmed up to the camera from already having their pictures taken from their proposal in Boston, but I really believe their love is effortless. 🙂 They were all smiles, even in 24-degree temps with minimal layers to stay warm. I know I’ll see those same beaming smiles later this year as they say “YES!” to forever! I cannot WAIT!!!!

Brian & Jenn’s Love Story

HOW BRIAN & JENN MET

From Brian’s point of view

In May of 2015, I moved to Arlington excited to start a new chapter of my life. To meet people in the area, two friends from high school convinced my roommates and me to join their kickball team. One of the teammates was their new roommate, Jenn.

After every game, our team would go to a bar where I would always try to hang out with Jenn, even when her roommates missed the game.
We continued to hang out as friends, with me annoying her some along the way (sorry Jenn) until I finally asked her on a date to Old Town.

I didn’t know when I went to kickball that day that I would be meeting my future wife, but I knew right away she was special and someone that I loved spending time with. Thank you Jenn, for saying yes to that date and spending our lives together!

HOW BRIAN PROPOSED TO JENN

From Jenn’s point of view

After going to school and living in Boston for a couple of years, it quickly became my favorite place! Shortly after we started dating, Brian and I spontaneously booked our first trip together to Boston so I could show him why I was so obsessed with it.

A few years later, we decided to get a group of friends together and go for a weekend in the summer to see a Red Sox game. We rented a big Airbnb in the city and had a great time Friday seeing the city and going to the game. The next morning, we were supposed to meet my old Boston roommate and her fiance for brunch. They were coming back from a trip of their own and she texted me saying they were running late. Brian suggested we walk around the neighborhood to kill time while we were waiting.

We wandered a few blocks, and he eventually took me to the quaintest little cobblestone street in one of the oldest parts of the city. I wanted to take a picture so we waited for a few people to clear out, and then he took my hand and urged me down the street. I was looking at all the cute houses and doors not sure why Brian was rushing me to the end of the street, but I quickly realized when he started telling me the sweetest things and got down on one knee. I could not believe what was happening; my hands went to my face and I don’t even remember this, but he tells me I said “are you serious?” before finally saying yes!! I then realized he had been in touch with one of my favorite Boston photographers that he had arranged to capture the special moment.

We wandered around the city taking some pictures in my favorite spots, with me still in disbelief. His siblings showed up to the park where we were finishing up our pictures and surprised us with the biggest hugs and a bottle of champagne that we popped right there! We went back to the Airbnb to celebrate with our friends and call our parents. The only thing missing were my sisters, until a few minutes after arriving back to the house, they showed up and surprised me from New York!

I’m still not sure how Brian pulled off the best surprise ever (with the help of our siblings, my cousin, and our friends of course) but I am so thankful for everyone, and that my favorite place is now our place <3

Thank you, Brian and Jenn, for getting up early to meet me before the sun rose! The time I had with you two on that very chilly Friday morning started my weekend on a bright note. 🙂 Your love story, the photos with your BEAMING smiles below, and the fun we had together have me even more excited to see you all again and CELEBRATE your wedding day! I am grateful for you two and so honored to stand by your side during this exciting time of your lives. <3
