What an eventful week!!! It’s so nice being back in Florida because I’m slowly but surely getting back into a good routine again. 🙂 My computer is LOADED with thousands of images from the past few weeks, but I’m able to dedicate my afternoons to editing (hello, block-scheduling!!!)! Even though I have a lot of work on my plate, I still managed to put my computer away over the weekend to spend it with Alex. Fortunately, the tropical weather held off long enough for us to enjoy Saturday outside!! Now that it’s August, we have to be cautious about incoming storms because the Gulf Coast can be brutal at times. But I’m looking forward to the beach days again when these storms disappear!! 🙂 In the meantime, check out what happened this past week!!!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO ALEX!!
Due to the craziness of rescheduling weddings, I ended up being in Virginia during Alex’s Birthday. Even though Alex isn’t a huge Birthday guy, I wanted to make sure he felt celebrated and loved. So we finally had a day off together on Saturday and dedicated it to celebrate!!! I made him his favorite family breakfast (as known as, “Bubba breakfast” — courtesy of his grandfather!), then ventured out to Milton, Florida, went on a 16.3-mile ride, indulged in yummy Scoops ice cream, and relaxed that evening with our favorite current show “Alone” with a cookie cake! 🙂 Yum!!! It was a fun, active, and relaxing day!

SOAKING IN THE BEACH DAYS
I’m trying to make time during the week to go to the beach when it’s nice outside. It can be tricky while working and hustling around, but I realized last week that we are only here for another 10-months until we move to our next duty station!!! Between having a baby and the cold winter days on the Florida Panhandle, our beach days are limited. I love this view so much and never want to take it for granted!!! 🙂

TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS… EVERY DAY!
Last week was a hustling kind of week!!!! I drove back to Florida on Monday and went straight to work the next day catching up with emails, blogging, and edits. Because I did a session marathon when I was visiting Virginia, I have a lot of editing on my plate. I’m taking it day by day and seeing the progress happen. 🙂 And… GOSH! I’m sooooo looking forward to eventually sharing these portraits on my blog! From the beach sessions to then sharing photos from the mountains … Oh, it makes my photographer heart SING!
Last Friday evening, I had the privilege of photographing a proposal here in Destin, Florida … and I cannot WAIT to share photos from our time together!! 🙂 I’ll be sharing a sneak peek later this week after they finish making their announcement rounds! Let’s just say that this beach proposal had all THREE of us in tears!!!

PREPARING TO BE PARENTS
No baby classes for us … yet! Not until the third trimester! But, I laughed yesterday morning when I found that Alex left behind his vitamins after breakfast. So I realized that post-it notes will be essential in our future. 😉 HA!
Also, we took on the role of babysitters for our friends yesterday so they can have a little date while we got in a little boy toddler training. HA! Seeing Alex entertain our friend’s precious boy melted my heart!!! I cannot wait to see him with our baby boy in the near future!!!

THE HOME LIFE
Okay, now seeing these photos of Alex with our friend’s boy (above) and the photo of him with Ollie (below) makes me wonder how he does it! Dogs and kids love him!!! Haha! It’s not very often we get him home because of his long hours at the hospital, but when he is home, you can guarantee that Ollie is close by … or on top of him! I’m enjoying settling back into a routine again. Fortunately, my food aversions are not as much of a concern anymore in the second trimester, so I’m taking advantage of eating yummy food again!!! Like avocado toast! YUM!!!

CLOSE CALL…
The Florida panhandle is a very interesting place… Not only do we need to watch out for potential tropical storms, but also bears! We found this black bear running around our street yesterday evening searching through the unlocked trash cans for food… So much for a nice walk around the neighborhood before the rain!
Happy Monday, everyone!!
