I remember leaving Robby and Meghan’s engagement session last year thinking about how I loved that they were down for anything! I mean, Meghan wore heels and managed to climb over rocks during our session! That’s a skill! Fortunately, this time around, she decided to ditch the heels and sport some comfortable shoes. 🙂 Smart choice for an expansive venue like Airlie! Haha! And after months of waiting for their big day, it seemed like it snuck up on us!! But I love reliving this beautiful day over and over again when I look through these photos below. 🙂 I was honored to be Robby and Meghan’s photographer for their Airlie, Virginia wedding!!
Check out their beautiful day through my lens!!!
A BOHO GARDEN WEDDING AT AIRLIE, VIRGINIA.
Prepping for the Ceremony.
Planning a week in advance, I totally came prepared for a sunshine-filled day. Who am I kidding about believing the forecast … But the morning of, the threat of rain was a real struggle. FORTUNATELY, we actually ended up with a beautiful day! 🙂 A little good luck rain in the morning that cleared up just in time for the wedding festivities to commence!!
The beautiful grounds at Airlie were showing off for Robby and Meghan — It was the peak of summer, after all! Robby and his friends were inside of the pub enjoying the casual hang-out time while playing video games. And across the way was Meghan and the girls having their hair and makeup done by Urban Halo and Courtney Michelle Artistry. What a contrast! Haha! Each party was having fun, though!!
After Meghan slipped into her Zoya Atelier dress, her sweet little flower girl would NOT leave her side. The flower girl clearly knew who the princess was that day, despite her own little tiara. 🙂 Haha! Meghan looked AMAZING in her twirl-able dress — After all, she requested as many twirling photos as possible! And she wore comfortable shoes so she was ready to the running around, no matter what that running around entailed! 😉
Just before the ceremony, Robby and Meghan met at the butterfly door to recite their vows. It was so cute watching them interact together without peaking. Although, I know they wanted to take a quick glance around the corner. 😉 They ended their time together with one last “I love you” and hid away for the big reveal!!
The Ceremony.
While Airlie offers a variety of ceremony spots, I was excited that Robby and Meghan were able to host their wedding by the water! And Good Earth Flowers assembled a beautiful arbor that really nailed the boho theme so well! They had a guitarist playing in the background that heightened all of the emotions as we anticipated Meghan’s arrival. And just before Meghan made her big entrance, the flower girl and ring bearer had everyone cracking up in their princess and secret service attire. So cute!!! Meghan came around the corner and took everyone’s breath away, especially Robby. 🙂
They had a dear friend officiate their wedding, which meant so much to them! Before they were announced as husband and wife, they wanted to tie in a sand ceremony. Little did Robby know that the humidity would make his sand stick to the container! Haha! They were so cute up there laughing and enjoying that time at the altar. 🙂 Just as they were pronounced as husband and wife, confetti poppers launched!!! So fun!!! I wish that was an automatic thing for every wedding. HA!
Their Best Friends.
Robby, Meghan, and their best friends all gathered together for fun photos together. 🙂 The majority of these portraits were done before the ceremony, but it was fun when both groups came together!! And they especially had fun with the love sign!
Meghan’s girls wore Jenny Yoo dresses (love), and the color was so fitting since she was after a rosy color, and the dress was called “rosewater!” So… duh! That was it! And the colors against the greenery around the Airlie gardens complimented so well. 🙂 And, of course, the bouquets Good Earth Flowers made tied in the theme beautifully! I love ALL of these moments documented with this crew!!!
Mr. & Mrs.!!!
I could’ve EASILY photographed these two for hours around Airlie! There were so many spots we wanted to cover in a short 30-minute timestamp. But we managed to do it, and I love the results!!! Robby and Meghan had so much JOY being married that it was a piece of cake to document their sweet and tender moments together. 🙂 And, we gotta love the twirling photos!!! But actually, I love all of them. <3 Robby and Meghan ROCKED their portrait time!!!
Also, we got so lucky when we had spotted sunflowers blooming in the gardens just in time for the sunset portraits! Meghan was excited because it’s one of her favorite flowers — And GOODNESS, what a magical time we had photographing around the flowers/golden light! If only that sun stood still like that for another 30-minutes… 😉 Jk! They needed to run back and enjoy their PARTY!
The Details.
Meghan was so excited to highlight their “Up” themed guestbook. And if you’re not familiar with the movie… watch it!! I cry every time watching the beginning of the movie! HAHA! But really, I can see why she was excited about it because the sign is super cute!! At each plate setting, they had a little plant to hold their name card. And while the decorating was kept fairly simple/clean/classy with white linens and napkins, Good Earth Flowers added their wedding colors with her use of florals. The room glowed from all directions as the candles and twinkle lights above flickered. It was exactly what Meghan and Robby wanted! Oh, and they were also excited to share their DELICIOUS cookie recipes with their guests — A scrumptious little party favor!
Happily Hitched did a phenomenal job not only making sure that everything came together smoothly for Robby and Meghan, but also for the vendors. I love a planner that works well as a team!! It was a successful day because of everyone’s efforts to make the bride and groom have the best day EVER! <3
The Reception.
Robby and Meghan’s guests flooded into the reception room after enjoying yummy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails on the lawn. After taking their seats, Robby and Meghan were welcomed in and enjoy their first dance together as husband and wife! They had everyone’s attention throughout the entire song as they showed off their twirling moves! I mean, when you have a dress like that, you better show it off!!! Haha! We heard sweet speeches from the fathers of the bride and groom, MOH, and watched Meghan dance with her dad. Soon after, they were pulled aside to say hi to grandparents who were unable to attend in person (thank goodness for technology to connect our loved ones, especially during these times). And then … finally, it was time to dance/sing with the SUPER talented Bachelor Boys Band!!! Of course, though, they couldn’t leave the night without treating their guests to Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. 🙂 YUM! I felt like the evening flew by SO quickly while we all enjoyed the singalong songs … Especially NSYNC’s “It’s Going to be … MAY!” 😉 AH! So perfect. 🙂 What a perfect celebration for a very deserving couple. <3
Oh, and that sparkler exit photo … New favorite!!! 🙂 So magical!
Thank You!!
THANK YOU, Robby and Meghan, for giving me the GREATEST honor to photograph this magical day for you all!!! WOW. Is all I can say… It was beautiful.
