I don’t think I’ve made it through a wedding lately without tearing up—and Elise and Andrew’s day at Poplar Springs Manor in Virginia was no exception. As a mom and a wife, witnessing the way my couples include their families, especially their little ones, hits close to home. Elise and Andrew’s wedding was so touching, and the way they incorporated their sweet daughter, Charlotte, throughout the day melted my heart. What a gift it is that Charlotte got to be part of her parents’ beautiful celebration at Poplar Springs Manor.
I first met Elise years ago through her sister, Elle, and I instantly loved their family. Their humor, generosity, and warmth light up any room. I’m so grateful for the connection we’ve built over the years. Elise is such a gentle soul, and together with Andrew, they are the sweetest pair.
Elise and Andrew’s Wedding Day
The forecast leading up to their wedding had everyone bracing for rain, but we were blessed with a day full of sunshine—what an answered prayer! Spring weddings have been lucky this year, and Elise and Andrew deserved every bit of that golden light.
Watching Elise help Charlotte get ready was such a tender moment. One day, Elise will help her little girl into a wedding dress of her own, and these photographs will be cherished forever. When Elise’s father walked in to see her in her gown, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The love this family shares is so deep and genuine.
Andrew’s face when he saw Elise during their first look said it all—she looked absolutely stunning! That low-back gown? Perfection. And even though he had already seen her, his expression during the ceremony was just as emotional. One of the sweetest moments was when little Charlotte had trouble walking down the aisle, and Andrew met her halfway to carry her to the altar. It was beautiful and completely unforgettable.
A Celebration Full of Surprises
Their reception was full of personal touches and joyful surprises. Elise and Andrew took the time to write handwritten thank-you cards for every guest—a gesture that says so much about their hearts. They wowed the crowd with a choreographed first dance, followed by a special dance with Charlotte that had everyone smiling.
But the biggest surprise of the night? A tattoo artist on site giving tiny tattoos to guests! It was such a fun and unexpected detail—Elise’s grandmother even got one! Their families truly know how to celebrate.
Other standout moments included Elise’s father praying over the newlyweds, and the heartfelt toasts by Elle and Stephen that brought everyone to tears. But one of the most emotional parts of the evening was Andrew’s dance with his mother. They danced to Michael Bublé’s “Forever Now,” and it was simply beautiful.
The night ended with a packed dance floor, thanks to DJ Craig Wood (my own wedding DJ!!), who always knows how to keep the party going. What a way to start this new chapter—CHEERS to Andrew and Elise!!!
