I can’t think of a better way to close out the summer wedding season than with Alexis and Nate’s celebration at Murray Hill in Virginia. Together, these two are fun, easy-going, and full of life—and their wedding day reflected that beautifully. From heartfelt moments to nonstop laughter, their day was one for the books.
Alexis and Nate’s Wedding Day
The morning started with excitement and happy anticipation. Alexis and her bridesmaids filled the getting-ready space with laughter as they slipped into their garden-inspired pink gowns, a vision of soft, romantic color. Nate and his groomsmen had it a bit easier on the other side of the house (as the guys always do!). With a large but joy-filled wedding party, there was never a dull moment, and the energy was contagious.
The ceremony itself was God-focused, emotional, and unforgettable. The processional was set to soft worship music which made me tear up. And when it came time for vows, there wasn’t a dry eye—or a straight face! Nate claimed he was nervous, but his words were some of the best I’ve ever heard. He shared about their first date, his immediate sense that she was the one, and some unforgettable stories of her hamster which coincidentally tied into the best man’s speech regarding Nate also owning a hamster. Lol! It was heartfelt, hilarious, and so perfectly “them.” When they were finally pronounced husband and wife, Alexis and Nate’s joy was uncontainable—their arms were raised high in celebration all the way back down the aisle!
Time to Celebrate!!!
As guests cooled off during cocktail hour on the garden lawn, the late-summer sun dipped behind the trees. It was the perfect transition into an evening of celebration. One of my favorite reception details was the wall of printed photos featuring their guests, a thoughtful touch that made everyone feel seen and loved. And the temporary tattoo station? Such a fun surprise—you’ll even catch glimpses of tiny tattoos in the photos worn by the guests (and the bride)!
When it came time for toasts and dances, emotions ran high again. Alexis and her dad shared so many touching moments throughout the day—from morning prep to walking down the aisle to their father-daughter dance. Their bond was beautiful, and I enjoyed documenting their raw moments together. But soon after, the party kicked off in full force. With their guest count maxing out the venue, the dance floor was packed. It was so much fun witnessing/documenting all of the fun dance moves as well as the sweet moments like Alexis dancing with her family (including her grandparents).
