I never thought I would be doing an engagement session in the middle of D.C. … in a terrifying thunderstorm! And let me stop there to tell you something quickly … Sean and Kayli live in Las Vegas and upon arriving, Kayli said that she would love to see a thunderstorm since they don’t have them out there like VA. Talk about a wish gone wrong! Lol! Just kidding, it actually worked out. 😉 It was just too perfect to not make fun of the situation! Up to the point of the session, we were all up in the air exactly what was to come since the percentages were not necessarily guaranteeing horrible weather. So we decided to go for it after realizing it was either we do the session now or never! Sean and Kayli live in Nevada and are only home just in time for Craig & Erica’s big day this weekend. We took a chance, but had to make some changes. Originally, the plan was to go to downtown Georgetown, then to a spot in Arlington to overlook the DC skyline and finish up at the very place where Sean and Kayli met. These all would have been GREAT! However, right when I arrived in Arlington to meet up with them I realized how bad this storm really was and needed to seek a place where we can work outdoors but with some sort of shelter for protection. The last thing I want to do is hold an umbrella in the middle of a thunderstorm. Lol! So thinking quickly on our feet we came up with the Kennedy Center and the Jefferson Memorial.
The adventure began … we made our way to the Jefferson Memorial and that is when it decided to DOWNPOUR. There was no way that we could hop out of the car and not get soaking wet EVEN with an umbrella! That’s when we drove to the Kennedy Center a little worried that we wouldn’t be able to see any skyline due to the pouring rain mixed with fog. Fortunately for us, the day started to get better from there! We arrived and almost thought the rooftop was closed after seeing ropes around the doors. But we were able to get out through another set and that was when we saw our light show for the day! Haha! Surrounded by lightning bolts as we were quickly shuffling taking photos under the little shelter we had overtop of us and hoping not to get too wet. These two are so brave! The clouds were SO dark, which could have been an issue to photograph but fortunately for my camera, it surprises me every day! Finished off basically in darkness at the Jefferson Memorial (even though it was still before sunset) and the rain was basically gone by that point to play a little bit in the open … for once. 🙂 Definitely a session to never forget!
Sean and Kayli are a caring, easy going, loving and SWEET couple! So blessed to have been connected with them and looking forward to these next months ahead with them! 🙂 Sean and Kayli both met working at a restaurant in Clarendon, VA and found out then that they lived practically down the road from one another! Immediately hitting it off, they started dating. Wasn’t too long after that Sean had something up his sleeve. 🙂 They had an arrangement to travel to Greece for a luxury trip with their friends, Craig and Erica, but what Kayli didn’t know what was about to happen. Sean brought her onto the beach of Greece and got down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage. 🙂 After years of being engaged, they are excited to walk down the aisle in just a few short months!
