Things I love | Statement Jewelry

I am starting a series of things I love as I enter into my slow season. 🙂 Although I’m still weeks away from technically going into the slow season … believeeeeeeee me, I have a ton on my “to do list” at this moment with ZERO editing work, surprisingly! A little overwhelming for a Friday/weekend! A big part of my to do list is that I have a workshop tomorrow. 🙂 SO excited!!!!

I can think as far back as elementary school where I loved accessorizing. We won’t go into detail about that time of fashion because it was embarrassing! Seriously. Fast forward to high school, I started really growing my statement jewelry collection. I would match my purse to the clothing I was wearing for the day … it was a bit ridiculous, let’s be honest! Although, I won the “Best Dressed” superlative in high school! Haha! Since then, I’ve been growing my appreciation for what my great grandmother would call “costume jewelry”. That’s about the time that I discovered Charming Charlie … oh and did that change my wardrobe! Now and days I’ll tell people that when I go in there to go shopping, I’m not on a shopping spree … I’m on a shopping RAGE. Not kidding! I end up with a basket full of necklaces, scarves, earrings … whatever! I go crazy shopping! So I have to limit how many times I walk in there so I’m not spending all of my paychecks. 😉

A great necklace can really transform an outfit, which is why I love accessorizing. Especially being a wedding photographer, it’s important to my brand to be put together. Adding a statement necklace to any piece of clothing really says for the day, “she put thought into her outfit”. I’ll always go after a necklace, belt and bracelet to balance the look. I RARELY ever put together a statement necklace with any earrings. That’s my one thing when I put together accessories, I like balance and a little bit of simplicity … pshhhhh yeah right! My bulky necklaces/earrings are anything but simple. 😉 You get what I mean! If I wear bulky earrings, I avoid the necklace, however I will add a scarf to the earrings because there isn’t too much bling going on. 😉

Do you have a favorite place to go shopping for fun and fashionable jewelry? I also LOVE Francesca’s! Both really great stores with unique and fun accessories! 🙂
