Photographing prepping details is one of the first things I tackle when arriving at the prepping location. If I do not have a second shooter with me that day, I will randomly pop in to take photos of the girls prepping throughout the time I’m photographing details. I ask every bride to collect their details and have them ready for me so I’m not bothering anyone. That is the LAST thing I want to do is arrive and have the bride/bridesmaids running around looking for the details I need to photograph! During our final meeting together I send over a checklist of everything they need compiled. It’s also important that the packaging is off, including labels! This gives me more time styling rather than unwrapping everything. 🙂 I also ask the groom to collect certain details if he has any that I can photograph. I believe it is important to photograph the groom details just as much as we all love to photograph the bride’s details, if possible!!! I have to admit though that sometimes it doesn’t work out since the groom typically gets ready somewhere else, but when it does work out … great!
So to start off the “Best of 2015” (wedding series), I’m sharing some of my personal favorite prepping details! I consider lighting, color, the detail(s), backdrop and composition for these shots! This post is definitely eye candy with the amount of sparkle! 🙂
Blush ring?! LOVE IT!!!
The invitation set was packaged in this GORGEOUS box with the most beautiful calligraphy! *drool*
So much sparkly detail!!!
The bride LOVED golden frames! Since this house had beautiful frames displayed on the wall, it was necessary to get this shot in some way!
One of my favorite prepping detail photos!
Nick and Kristin had a letter themed wedding since a part of their relationship was spent away from each other due to the military life. It was appropriate to incorporate the same theme when styling their rings. 🙂
The groom handmade these boutonnieres and their wedding bands! How talented!!!
Loved seeing that my bride purchased a Mrs. Box for her ring! Perfect styling accessory that I’ll be adding to my styling kit this year. 😉
How about something blue hidden on the inside of a shoe?
Matt and Taylor took this lock and locked it on a bridge together during their ceremony at the beautiful Old House Vineyards in Culpeper, VA. Love the idea!
Initialed cuff links were given to the groom as his gift. Personalized gifts are perfect! Not to mention, these shoes get me every time!!!
Love the simplicity of this invite!
These flowers by DBI Studio is ON POINT!
The rope really helped tie in the nautical theme!
THAT DRESS! Goodness!
Burlap worked great for this beach destination wedding!
The groom/groomsmen prepped in a library space so styling some details with a book was a great way to frame the detail!
Intricate detailing on the side of a ring is worth photographing for sure!
Blush dress in a blush room … Gorgeous!
Seems like this was a super popular perfume last year! It must smell great but I just love the classy look!
THIS Elie Saab dress … Need I say more?!
Sparkly shoes sometimes make a great backdrop for rings!
Sparkles … Something Blue … Kate Spade … I want them!!!
The stationery set for James and Emily’s wedding was SO pretty to photograph! It’s perfect for the preppy bride!
