With summer just around the corner (oh PLEASE sunshine!!!), I thought I would share some summer outfit inspiration! Especially if you have an upcoming session, this might help if you’re freaking out over what to wear! During the summer months there really isn’t so muchΒ “layering” for photos unless we are blessed with a 70 degree day. When it comes to coloring, the key is light colored clothing. I don’t think anyone would want to wear dark clothing to absorb the sunshine anyways! Haha!
A few things to keep in mind. Dress appropriately to your shape. π You want to make sure that you feel comfortable and confident with what you are wearing! Men, it is important that you steer away from pin striped shirts. This is a popular choice when looking at button ups, however, it creates a weird distortion. Go for checkered, solid or bolder stripes. Just to keep that in mind!
Here are some pointers when looking for a summer outfit for your photos! π
Girls: White dresses are great! This is THE time to be wearing white to celebrate the “bride look”. π
Men: Button down shirts always look great! Since summer can be brutal with hot temps, roll up the sleeves and make sure you pick out a light weight fabric. Have fun with colors as well … even light pink looks great!!!
Girls: Think about how you can mix up the shoot! Tulle skirts can be easily slipped over top of a dress. π
Men: Bow ties??? Yes please!
Light colors are great! Especially when you have a cute and classic sheath dress!
Keep the location in mind as well as your personality of your outfits.
Girls: It’s fun to have a little something different about your outfit like cut outs or intricate detailing!
Men: Khaki shorts, pants or jeans are totally appropriate! Rolling up those sleeves will hopefully help the heat. π
I know I have shown a lot of dresses for the girls, but you can totally work a cute pair of shorts! J Crew is a great place to find a pair with personality!
Girls: Sandals, wedges or heels are great!
Men: Sperrys, dress shoes or sandals work!
If you want to add some color, personalize with some cute and colorful jewelry!
Want to add print? Skirts are great or even finding an intricate texture to set the dress a part from anything else out there. π
Have fun when dressing up for the scenery! Like below, dressing up for the beach means fun accessories like hats!
Men: Want a little more personality to the khaki shorts? Why not find some colored shorts with a belt! Love this look!
Girls: What about a simple white dress? Add a little personality with a belt and a light/fun summer scarf!
If you two are super laid back and casual, a colored short with a nice top is great!
Girls: I’m personally a huge fan of flowy dresses/skirts!
Men: If you don’t want to wear a button down the entire session, why not wear a simple polo?
