This was a session I have been looking forward to sharing on my blog! One main reasons … GO DUKES! 🙂 I love JMU couples! Even better? MRD Alumni! Rob worked his way up to a Drum Major leadership role over the years while Kim was a Dukette! Love that they connected within the MRD community. 🙂 They are incredibly sweet together so this was definitely an engagement that has been anticipated for a LONG time! Just read about their sweet love story!!! I just love these two!!!
ROB & KIM’S LOVE STORY
How Rob and Kim met from Kim’s perspective…
Rob and I knew of each other through mutual friends at JMU. We spent years on the same football field as a trumpet player (Rob) and Dukette (me!) in the MRDs, but our paths never really crossed. Out of nowhere, Rob reached out to me online during the summer of my senior year and we instantly clicked. I couldn’t believe how similar we were and immediately knew we had something special. Our seven years of dating has been a relationship full of so much music and dancing and laughter and we can’t wait to see where the next seven take us!
How Rob proposed to Kim from Rob’s perspective…
On the first day of my Winter Break, I lied straight to my future fiancé’s face. I told her I was going to see my friend Kevin, but in reality I was driving down to Stafford to ask her parents’ permission to propose to her. After a wonderful talk with her parents, I received their blessing, and made my way back up to Alexandria. I picked Kim up, told her we were going to dinner, and tried to stay calm. After dinner, I walked her down to the water, where her best friend Ana and Ana’s brother Nikola were waiting for us. As we were walking, I confessed to Kim about my lie. I told her that I had been in Stafford talking to her parents, and that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I got down on one knee, as you do, and asked her to marry me while her friends stood nearby and took pictures. Afterwards, we celebrated with our friends and took more pictures, and when we got home, Kim started working on our guest list. It was one of the best nights of my life.
Thank you Rob and Kim for a great time in Alexandria!!!! 🙂 Your pup is so sweet and adorable and I’m glad we were able to make this session work in the midst of this rainy season! Cannot WAIT for your winery wedding this summer!!! Enjoy some of my favorites!!! CONGRATS! xoxo!
