James, Greta and I met on a pretty hot day for May … over 90 degrees. WHEW! They were pros though and didn’t even show how uncomfortable the heat was in these photos. They are beaming with joy and love!!! <3 Besides the heat, we also had to challenge the lighting. However, even though we were photographing in considerably “harsh lighting”, I love how these turned out! Bright and happy! 🙂 Meadowlark Botanical Gardens is always a beautiful backdrop full of lush greenery and interesting rustic structures making it fun to create unique photos from session to session. We spent our time getting to know each other and chatting about their big day coming up soon (where is this year going already?!)! The day after their session, Greta and I met up for a little Wine and Design which was a fun and relaxing get together. Loved that! Greta was a natural painter and didn’t even know it! Haha!
JAMES & GRETA’S LOVE STORY
How Greta and James Met
from James’ perspective…
Greta and I met at work. I was an employee of 4 years and she was a part time intern from the University of Maryland. I would come up with ways to see her by stopping by to see my manager, who so happened to sit across from Greta. One time we ended up discussing the company softball team and our jersey numbers. I mentioned wanting the number 13 followed by Greta yelling out, “That’s my number!” even though she wasn’t on the team. From that moment I had my in, and would start talking to her through instant messenger. We would talk for hours and have in-depth conversations about who we were and what we wanted in life. Once softball season started, I invited her to one of our games and even offered to drive her. I lived 45 miles in the opposite direction of College Park, but couldn’t pass up an opportunity to hang out. We eventually started dating and 2 years later, with a new house and puppy, I am engaged to the love of my life!
How James Proposed to Greta
from Greta’s perspective…
James proposed the Friday before Thanksgiving. It wasn’t exactly a surprise. James is terrible at keeping secrets and we already discussed getting married. I spent weeks ignoring poor cover-ups and phone calls from jewelry stores. The week before he proposed, we even picked out our wedding venue! But he still wanted us to have a special moment. He came home from work that day, promptly rushed down to the basement, and after a few moments proclaimed “Get down here!” As I rounded the stairs, I saw him down on one knee, ring in hand. He told me he could’ve waited for our usual Friday date night dinner, but he wanted me to enjoy the ring for as long as possible. I spent that evening filled with the joy of being newly engaged! And now we’re planning the party of a lifetime to celebrate with all our friends and family.
Thank you James and Greta for a fun time last week!!!
CONGRATS on your engagement! Cannot wait for your wedding later this year!! <3
