James and Claire flew from the east coast (do you recognize them from their Chincoteague Beach session?) and were surprised to find that spring in Colorado really meant SNOW at Dream Lake for their wedding photos. And to be honest, I expected snow on the ground, but I was not expecting a snowstorm during their portraits, but they were all about it! Fortunately, before their session, they rented snow gear to hike the mountain. I came prepared with spikes! I highly recommend them because remnants of snow linger on the mountains when you don’t expect it. They were necessary every step of the way, especially when hiked on a ridge!
It’s a beautiful hike up to Dream Lake in the Rocky Mountains. Roughly a 3-mile round-trip easy hike, but a snowstorm slowed us down a lot. Especially since we carried camera gear, another outfit, flowers, and a changing tent). Unfortunately, by the time we were photographing, Claire got too cold to change into the other outfit. 18 degrees is brutal in the wet snow!! I was so proud that James and Claire took on the challenge of being photographed in the harsh elements on top of hiking in the Colorado Rockies during a snowstorm! Not many could do this, especially hiking in their wedding attire. Even though these photos had to be quick since we ended up in whiteout conditions after these photos were taken, they are some of my favorites!

James & Claire’s Winter Wonderland Rocky Mountains National Park Wedding Portraits at Dream Lake
Thank You!!!
Thank you, James and Claire, for battling the cold elements of Colorado. These portraits in Colorado turned out DREAMY at Dream Lake for your wedding photos. From your beach session to this, I loved our time together with the theme of being cozy. Haha!
