Bryan & Alisha | Middleburg, Va Wedding Photographer

Gosh, Bryan, Alisha and I started talking wayyyy back in June of last year discussing their wedding for May of 2013. At that time, I thought how far away it was from that moment of the initial email to the engagement session and now it has already passed?! What?! I loved talking back and forth about details and just talking like we were friends! I had such a BLAST getting to know this couple and just because the party is over doesn’t mean we aren’t going to stay friends! 🙂 I absolutely LOVE my clients because I love to keep in touch with them afterwards to continue a friendship that was formed from the process <3 So blessed for amazing clients!!!

<3 The Love Story of Bryan and Alisha <3

People often say you find “the one” when you least expect it. Neither of us were looking for a relationship; we were just out with friends for the night. I had never met Bryan but knew of him through my cousin and a mutual friend, Amanda. Amanda and I went out to a hole-in-the-wall bar in Marshall, VA. I met Bryan for the first time and laughed at his deep southern accent. My thoughts were, “Man I’m really in the country!” We didn’t talk much until the next night when we were all out again. That’s when all the magic happened 🙂 As I was walking off the dance floor when a slow Brad Paisley song came on, Bryan grabbed me and asked me to dance. From that point on, we were inseparable. The next day, Amanda, Lee, Bryan and I went on a double date at Hazel Lake where we fished, swam, and allowed the spark to continue. We each felt something special that neither of us had ever experienced before. For the first time in my life, I knew what being “in love” felt like. Becoming discouraged from being single before I met him, I asked my mom how she knew my dad was “the one.” She said she couldn’t explain it; she just knew. I trusted her word since her and my dad had been together since they were 16, and I finally understood what she meant when I felt it with Bryan. Our relationship moved very fast… met on a Friday, first date Sunday, relationship by Tuesday (in which he said, “I got a question for ya… you wanna be my girl?”), “I love you” a week later, and engagement four and a half months later.

We knew we wanted to spend our lives together, but I had no idea he would propose so soon. Christmas morning 2011, just four and a half months after we first met, he popped the question. We woke up that morning and went downstairs to the Christmas tree to exchange gifts. I went to get my gift to him under the tree and turned around to see him awkwardly standing there, as if he was waiting for something. He randomly dropped down on one knee and I just yelled out, “Oh my gosh!” with my hands clasped over my mouth, barely covering the biggest smile I’d ever had. I don’t even remember what he said because I was so overcome with emotion. I actually sat down, which startled him, but I quickly stood back up. When I did hear him say the words “will you marry me,” I of course said yes, and with shaking hands, he put the beautiful ring on my finger. I couldn’t stop looking at it and saying “oh my gosh” throughout the day. It was such a surreal feeling.
Fast-forward a year and a half later and we’re getting married at the same spot where we had our first date. Since July 29, 2011, we’ve spent almost every day of our lives together. He’s my best friend, and I am his. We’ve had a sort of connection since day one that people don’t understand until they actually experience it themselves. I fell in love with the most unexpected person at the most unexpected time, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
