You may think I’m crazy … because I think that of myself at times … I did a wedding all day Saturday to only be waking up at 5:30 a.m. the following morning for an engagement session. But it is SO worth it when the weather is just right, which you will see below! 🙂 We arrived at the lake and watched the sun rise with the fog rolling over the water. Ohhhhh man and did we get excited to witness the light turn from dark to the beautiful yellow rays peaking above the trees! I tell my clients repeatedly that I really cherish engagement sessions not just for my clients to see how I work, but more importantly I get to know THEM! 🙂 I am my business and because of my motives, I want to get to know my clients and build a reliable relationship. That only comes when I have the time before the wedding day. I got to know these two very well as we ran around Burke Lake Park and then travelled to George Mason University for the second part of the session. It was my first time ever on their campus and I loved it! You will see why I had a blast there because the lighting I found was gorgeous! :)))
Here is their love story from Ally’s perspective! 🙂
Fernando and I had run into each other on various occasions due to our mutual friends (and being on the same campus). We formally met in the beginning of my sophomore year at a social event, held by my sorority and his fraternity. Being the selfless man he is, he came early to the event, helped me and my sisters setup, and even took group pictures for the ladies (always SUCH a gentleman). It wasn’t until an ice breaker, later in the evening, that we were introduced to each other. It was a game where all the men took off their ties and wrapped it around a piece of paper with three facts about themselves.  Each lady got a tie and had to guess which brother the tie belonged to, then tie themself to that brother. I got Fernando. From that moment until this very day, we never stopped talking.
When I unexpectedly had to leave early, and didn’t have time to say goodbye, I thought that I wouldn’t see him again . But as I sat in the front seat and closed the car door, I noticed someone running out of the townhouse.  Next thing I know, Fernando is banging on my window asking for my number.
Fast forward three years later. It was my first time in Brazil, and I fell in love with Rio de Janeiro as soon as I left the airport. Towards the end of our long trip, we went on an early hike (which is not abnormal for us). When we got to the top of the mountain, you could see all of Rio- it was breathtaking. Next thing I know, I’m being whisked away to a more private area on the mountaintop. And then he popped the question! I was in complete disbelief. After I finally gathered myself enough to say yes, Fernando opened his backpack and pulled out champagne! We soaked in the moment for a good while before hiking back down.
And now we are preparing for the next large chapter in our lives!
