Marc & Caity | Warrenton, Virginia Farm Engagement Photographer

Marc, Caity and I go back to the high school years … which honestly feels like FOREVER AGO. One thing I love about my “job” is that I get the chance to reconnect to those I knew from my past and catch up! Obviously, they are always doing great because … they found love! 🙂 I could not be more happy for these two!!! I remember back in high school, Caity was always dressed to perfection and never seen not wearing heels. Girl, I don’t know how to you do it! Haha! But I love that even hiking through the fields for this session, she worked it and made it look so easy!

We met up at my parents farm for the first half of the session and then we were off to Caity’s grandparents farm down the road. I was able to meet their dogs, cat, horse, cows … all of the farm friends! Haha! What I loved most about being there was that Caity and Marc knew exactly what I would love for their session … a flower field! I’m a sucker when it comes to flowers … especially in a field setting … so it was a wonderful session from start to finish! 🙂 Especially once I saw how much they make each other happy. I could not be happier for you both during this exciting time of your lives!!!

Marc & Caity’s Love Story
from Caity’s perspective

How we met
Marc & I became friends in 10th grade at Liberty High School. We sat next to each other in history class, writing notes, goofing off, and probably flirting – though we were always just friends. The first time we actually met was at his family’s new house in Catlett where I was washing all the windows. My dad built the house, and I was the official cleaning crew. I’m sure I looked positively glowing from all the sweat, paint, and Windex all over me.

The night before Thanksgiving in 2011, and after some convincing, I decided to meet up with some friends in Warrenton at the Irish bar McMahon’s. The place was packed, and around every corner was a familiar face. I actually remember the moment I saw him walk in, and we both smiled at each other. In the following months we saw each other nearly every weekend and easily fell into our old friendship, and became best friends. Soon, it was more than friendship and we were in love.

The Proposal:
We had been planning a trip to New York City for months. Ever since I was little I’ve wanted to visit the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. Marc had always wanted to do the same which made this trip extra special for the both of us. We arrived in the city on Friday morning and explored all day.

I never suspected Marc to propose in New York, mostly because we really didn’t plan anything! I figured an engagement proposal would require some planning, so I didn’t see it coming.

On Saturday night, December 21st, we ate an amazing dinner at an Irish restaurant in Times Square. It was decorated with wreaths and Christmas trees and Christmas music was playing in the background – talk about romantic! Looking back, I remember noticing that Marc kept getting random phone calls from friends and family throughout the day and night “just checking in.” And, at dinner he was constantly wiping his forehead because he was sweating. Which I found odd since it was winter in New York. But still, I didn’t think anything of it.

After dinner, Marc told me he wanted us to take a picture in front of the Rockefeller Christmas tree. When we got to the tree that evening, it was packed with people. Hundreds of tourists were everywhere, crowding in front of the tree to get their pictures taken. We found a photographer to take our picture, and while I was fixing my hair Marc apparently whispered to him that he was going to propose to me. After a few normal pictures, Marc got on one knee and the crowd made a circle and immediately started cheering. After I said “YES” they went crazy. People were cheering, whistling, clapping, and taking pictures. It was the most magical experience I’ve ever had. Aside from the fact I stuck out my right hand and Marc slipped the ring on the wrong finger, it was the most perfect moment and one I will never forget.
