I love making systems that work for my business! So many photographers have influenced “making systems” and it has really made my weekly life so easy! Okay, well I guess I shouldn’t throw out the word “easy” like it’s THAT easy because owning a business is HARD work … but having a system makes life organized = a happy Stephanie! When it comes to Fridays, I like to call it “Packaging Day”! I love knowing that Fridays are my day to wrap up the edits I have worked so hard on so my clients can have their photos only less than a couple weeks after their session/wedding. 🙂 Having the expectation of me packaging a session or a wedding on Friday pushes me to get my edits done prior with no procrastination!!! During the busy season, I have several packages going out every week. As of yesterday, I was COMPLETELY caught up on all of my editing! WOHOO! I can be happy for this because I just keep thinking about where I was a year ago … I was still settling into my new house, working a full time job on top of my business, overbooking myself with zero down time, no time to ever catch up with edits … this year has been the BEST year yet!!! Being able to dedicate my time to just my clients without another job on the side has been so beneficial to my business. I’m looking forward to the years to come as I continue to strengthen my weekly/monthly/yearly systems!
Packaging day can be a little tedious due to the amount of time that is spent putting them together, but it is SO worth it!!!! I really enjoy putting these together for my clients because it’s usually a surprise. We all love surprises and the feeling of Christmas morning! 🙂 This morning, I’m trying to write this blog post at the same time of packaging 2 weddings from the past couple weekends, 3 initial wedding gifts, 3 sessions, 11 anniversary/1 month wedding packages and some thank you cards … so hopefully I’ll be able to get out of the house soon. 😉 As you remember over my “slow season” January-March, I actually spent quite a bit of time prepping boxes together for this season. This has helped me SO much and definitely will be planning to do this again for next year! In fact, I’m already brainstorming new ideas for packaging … as an artist, we can never settle for just one design. Always room for improvements and new ideas! I’m excited!!!
Here’s to a productive Friday!!!!
