Snow sessions have to be some of the most magical type of portraits! Although, VERY cold. I remember doing a couple last year and falling in love. This year, many couples of mine expressed interest in snow engagements but I will admit that scheduling this has been very tough. It seemed as though last year it was easy to predict the next big winter storm. This year … not so much. The meteorologists predict rain for one day … we end up getting snow. The meteorologists predict snow another day … we end up getting a lot of rain. It has been a big toss up this winter but I am hoping for a huge snow storm to come through here soon!!! I love being snowed in, hanging out in PJs with hot cocoa and watching a good movie with Kyle. Let’s cross fingers this will ACTUALLY happen this weekend! 🙂
Matt and Brianna were one of the couples who asked if they could do snow engagement portraits … uhhhh yes please! Doing this was very risky and unpredictable, but we could not have ended up doing it a better day this far into the winter season! Remember this past weekend where the meteorologists said we were anticipating a good amount of snow? Well, Matt drove up here from Richmond to make this session work and when we got rain all day Sunday/Monday, I was nervous. Monday night though, the snow finally started to fall and STICK to the ground. Brianna asked if we can move forward with a sunrise session yesterday morning. Whew! I don’t typically offer sunrise sessions anymore, but of course I would make this work because of this random snow storm. Tuesday morning came and I was walking out to my car in the dark before the sun was rising. I noticed that we only ended up with a dusting of snow on the ground, I became really nervous at that point because I was driving an hour south and I know typically we end up with more snow than southern Fauquier County. Brianna reassured me that they had just enough snow to make this work. She was right! I don’t know how southern Fauquier ended up with more snow than the mountains, but we were thankful it did! Not only did they have snow on the ground, they also had snow FALLING during our time together. 🙂 I’m so happy this worked out for everyone!
Matt and Brianna are sooooo incredibly sweet together! Their happiness is obvious in their photos and I cannot wait to see their ceremony take place in these very woods you see below! They are having their reception at one of my all time favorite venues, Morais Vineyeard this summer and I cannot wait to document their special day along with her AMAZING vendor team! #smpdreamteam
