I met Casey and Lauren for the first time about a month ago in my office. The weird thing is that Lauren and I have actually known each other much longer than we can remember! My mom tells me that Lauren and her family would come over to my house frequently when we were wee little ones and shared high chairs together! Haha! This is one of those circumstances why I am SO thankful for my business! I never would have guessed that I would be reunited with a childhood …. or “babyhood” 😉 … friend!
Last week I was planning my Monday in Richmond with friends when I realized that Casey and Lauren were hoping to do downtown Richmond engagement portraits. I immediately rushed to my computer and asked if they wanted to do their photos in just a few short days while I was making the trip there. They were on board and it worked out perfectly with the 70 degree weather and the beautiful sun! We met up and I had the chance to meet their darling, Bradford! Although, we didn’t prepare for the abundance of dog walkers. Bradford was only able to make a short appearance, but just enough for us to take some cute family photos together. 🙂 I cannot wait for their farm wedding this fall! As you will see below, they are seriously adorable!!!!
After months of wondering how to make the proposal as creative and meaningful as possible, I finally decided to pop the question where I picked Lauren up on our first date; the Landmark Theater. Our favorite improv group was performing there on January 9, 2015. After privately speaking to their manager ahead of time, we received backstage passes. My heart raced throughout their act, as all I could think about was the actual proposal. When we finally went backstage and met the group (who was also in on it), my nerves settled down and I knew it was time. They led me into it and I got on one knee, took out the ring, and asked Lauren to spend the rest of her life with me. I had to convince her a little bit that it was indeed NOT a joke before she cried “yes.” Afterwards, I planned a surprise party with both our families and friends at The Tobacco Company. It was the perfect ending to the best night of my life.
How we met from Lauren’s point of view:
It was the second semester of my freshman year at Virginia Tech. My best friends went to Virginia Commonwealth University, so I would visit them from time to time. They had one particularly handsome new acquaintance named Casey. After visiting VCU a few times and being too shy to say anything, my friend secretly texted him and told him I thought he was cute. He sped to the party to see me (literally got puller over, but luckily didn’t get a ticket). We spent the night laughing, flirting, and randomly getting our tarot cards read. The next day, he asked me if I wanted to meet up before heading back to Tech. We met at the Landmark Theater and walked back to his apartment where we watched Wall-e and talked for hours. After that, we started dating and spent our weekends making the three hour trek to see each other, but it was completely worth it!
