I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!!!! It was great spending my Sunday morning at church photographing sweet families in the community. <3 This is my second year doing it and it’s always a treasure documenting these sweet memories for my church family! Following service, my family and I took on a relaxing Easter by going to The New Bridge in Warrenton for brunch. It was DELICIOUS! Eggs Benedict and brie … yes please!!! I hope to host Easter at my place next year but in the meantime, I don’t have a dining table in my house. 😉 Other than the relaxing Sunday, Friday was spent planning the Runaway Brides 5k Fun Run, photographing a sweet couple and spending the night with my best friend while drinking wine. This weekend was just what I needed! 🙂

It seemed like this past weekend was the weekend of planting! Friends of mine were coincidentally fixing up their landscaping and maybe it wasn’t so much of a coincidence since stores were finally stocking up their planting section. Kyle from Permascapes came over on Thursday to check out my landscaping and he developed an amazing design for this small space. His goal was to fix it up while keeping it simple so it didn’t stand out too much for the community. Knowing me, I could have gone overboard so I’m glad that I took his professional opinion because I LOVE the results!!! Before we get to the results, I wanted to share a little back story to this…
See this truck? That was Kyle’s after we finished! Yes, the shrubs and sod are in there but it is primarily CLAY! The absolute WORST!!!! I helped Kyle as much as I could throughout the planting process but I literally could not get the shovel to go into the ground because it was solid clay and rock. Talk about man power, he was able to get through it with no problem and carry load after load of clay into his truck. He replaced the clay with some hearty planting soil so the plants had nutrients. I’m not sure how any of my original plants would have survived living in the previous conditions so I’m glad that Kyle came to fix it. 🙂 If you are interested in chatting with Kyle about his services, email him at info@permascapesllc.com ! LANDSCAPING BEFORE….
One thing I definitely envisioned was to have a flower bed on this side of the entry way so it’s symmetrical!
As you can see, the shrubs are very standard and actually aren’t really thriving! When Kyle started digging up the shrubs, he was disappointed to see that they literally took the cylinder shaped root ball from the pot and stuck it in the ground of clay. He educated me by saying that plants cannot live in this kind of condition, or at least they will never be happy because of the lack of nutrients. The sod was also literally slapped on to the clay ground without any prepping. I’m praying that my sod will live, especially since they laid it out during the winter time. We will see!

And THIS is what Permascapes put together for me!!!!!! I’m SOOOOO happy with the results! Kyle, you are a mastermind and not to mention, efficient! I absolutely LOVE it! If you want to know any of these plants below, comment and I will ask Kyle about it because I sure have no idea! 😉
