Joe, Lauren and I met in downtown Manassas where it seemed like everyone was taking advantage of the first sunny day. Even though the sun eventually was covered by clouds by the time the session started, it was still a beautiful day! We made our first stop by one of their favorite book stores, Prospero’s Books. Joe mentioned within the first five minutes how easy this session was going to be, just seeing how I worked just in that short amount of time! Haha! Exactly what I like to hear. 🙂 Most couples get nervous that I’ll just throw them out in front of the camera and say … “Just do what you do best and I’ll just capture those unexpected moments”! LOL! Oh gosh, that would be a disaster and I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have a business. 😉 After running around downtown and realizing how we should have brought walkie talkies in order to hear each other because of how loud main street was (lol!), we left to the quieter side of town. We met up at the Manassas Battlefields were it was basically empty. What a contrast in environments! We played around until the dusk leaving on a great note from a great time together. 🙂
JOE & LAUREN’S LOVE STORY
Lauren and Joe met through mutual friends in 2008–late in their freshman year at JMU. The night they first met, they hung out in Joe’s dorm room talking and listening to Band of Horses. Lauren thought Joe was funny and interesting but she wasn’t initially attracted to him–yet! As the summer after their freshman year passed, Joe and Lauren began seeing more of each other while hanging out with their friends Ben, Chase, and Kim. The more they began getting to know each other, bonding over a similar taste in music, movies, and books, the more their friendship developed. At different times throughout their first two years at JMU both Lauren and Joe were in long distance relationships with other people, but ultimately, as their friendship endured and strengthened, they realized they would be happiest together.
By the spring of their junior year, Joe was taking Lauren home with him to meet his parents–Lauren took Joe home to meet her family shortly after. In the two years before they graduated, Lauren and Joe did everything together–they went hiking on Skyline Drive, they made the long journey (on several occasions) all the way out to DC to catch their favorite bands in concert, and they also spent a lot of time hanging out at Joe’s place “Crayola House” watching local bands play in his basement.
After graduating, and a challenging long-distance year as Lauren continued at JMU to earn her master’s, Joe and Lauren finally moved in to their first apartment in Vienna, VA. Three years later, they bought heir first townhouse–which is where Joe decided to propose.
Last year, on April 19th, Joe and Lauren attended a Nats game on a chilly spring day. The Nats beat the Phillies, and as soon as they got home, Lauren rushed upstairs immediately to put on sweat pants because she was still freezing! As she came down the stairs, completely unsuspecting (I mean, she was in sweat pants), she found Joe down on one knee, waiting for her in the foyer. He presented the ring he had picked out for her and asked her to marry him. And the rest is history!
Now Lauren and Joe are planning their wedding and are extremely excited to recite their vows and PARTY on July 2nd!!
Thank you Joe and Lauren for a wonderful time in Manassas!!! Cannot WAIT for your wedding in less than two months! XOXO! Enjoy some of my favorites!!!
CONGRATS!!!!
