Happy March!

Happy March!!

Today, I’m reflecting the 2017 year thus far. I know we are only in the month of March, but researchers say that the majority of people lose focus on their dreams and goals for the year by the end of March. I’m keeping myself accountable by revisiting these resolutions and reflections I wrote back in January. 🙂

As I think about my word of the year, “flourish,” the more I believe that I need to change it to “intentional.” That word keeps coming up and for good reasons! I have been spending time with family and friends every week for the past couple of months, and it really comes down to wanting intentional time with them. It’s SO easy to tell someone, “we should get together soon!!!” Have you noticed that is just a way to prolong the intention of actually making something happen? Why not say instead, “Hey! Let’s make something happen on the calendar! What date works for you?” It’s more work than just pushing it to the side, but maybe we all need to pour more work into our relationships.

Happy March!!

Speaking of relationships, for Lent, I decided I need to spend more INTENTIONAL time with God. I have gotten into the worst habit of checking emails and social media when I first wake up. Instead, I bought the “You are Mine” Lent Study through the She Reads Truth app. So when I typically wake up and reach for my phone to catch up with emails and social media, I’ll be taking that time for daily devotionals. <3 For the Lent season, don’t feel like you need to “give up something,” but rather “do something better!” I really need to carry this after the Lent season is done, so it’s time for a change!!

Let’s see how I’m doing so far…

2017 Personal Goals
* Learn one new recipe every month — I made homemade biscuits for the first time last month! I don’t think I did anything fancy in January though.
* Try not to wear my hair up in a messy bun more than twice a week. — YES!!!!! I have really worked hard on this one to take care of those flyaways!
* Meet up with a friend every week for coffee, wine, lunch or dinner! — YES!!! Yay!
* Take control of my health lifestyle — Pretty much! Although, I haven’t been exercising since I got sick a few weeks ago. Oops!
* Bless others — So far, I’m working on the Runaway Brides 5k Fun Run event to make this happen. 🙂
* Pay more towards my mortgage principal from month to month. — Yes!!
* Instead of TV every night, READ! — Yikes!!! I haven’t done this!!!
* Home projects — Yes! I’m working on this. 🙂
* Spend less time on my cell phone, especially at night — I’m still trying to figure out a balance! I don’t spend time on my cell phone during the day, so I find myself “catching up” at night, which isn’t healthy!
* Go to bed before midnight and wake up before 8:30 a.m.! — I cannot say that I have done this every night since January, but as long as I have done this on average, then it’s healthy!
*
Travel/Explore! — I just added this one! I’m in need of outdoor adventuring in my life… and sunshine!!
