This was my first time at Salamander Resort, and as soon as I pulled up, it was evident why Jacob and Ally fell in love with the venue! Not only were their guests able to relax and not worry about transportation for the day/night, but the atmosphere was classy and elegant. We were all in awe how everything came together!! On the way to the venue, I went through a downpour of rain, so I was surprised that just 10-minutes up the road in Middleburg was clear! What a blessing!!! Even with a threat of rain, they took a chance and had their ceremony outside, and I’m so glad they did!! It started to sprinkle a little bit at the end of the ceremony, but that was just for good luck sake! 😉
I grew up with Ally’s family, as one of her cousins is one of my great friends from middle school — So I won’t even bother counting how many years it has been! Too many! 😉 Ally has always been beautiful, but gosh, she has grown up to be a drop dead gorgeous woman she is today with a heart of gold! When I met Jacob last summer, it was so obvious how well these two work together. Jacob is as sweet as can be and of course, a dapper gentleman! It has been so much fun getting to know these two on a different level through photography. 🙂
Jacob and Ally had a sweet ceremony with stories about how they met, what they love about each other and how Jacob proposed to Ally. I couldn’t stop laughing along with the guests because they are so cute together!! After they had walked back as husband and wife to the horse-drawn carriage, guests headed down to the gardens for the cocktail hour. Because they chose to do a first look, they were able to start celebrating with their closest family and friends at cocktail hour! Definitely a bonus when you can take care of the photos before the ceremony. 🙂 The horse drawn carriage picked up guests and took them around the property for a joy ride. Great entertainment for everyone! As soon as the guests walked into the reception space, we felt as though we walked into a DC venue. Atmospheric lighting, flowers, china and beautiful table clothes added personality to the ballroom. I honestly don’t photograph ballroom weddings often, but this was beautiful!!! For dinner, we lived the life of a vegan for the evening since Jacob and Ally are both vegans. There is a story to that, but you have to read more about their background and their TV show! Check out their engagement session HERE with more fun details about that! 🙂
Thank you, Jacob and Ally, for having me there with you all celebrating this special occasion!! What an honor!! I cannot wait to see where your marriage takes you because I know you have a bright future ahead! Love you both! Enjoy a preview of your photos from Sunday! <3 XOXO!
